Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (PSP)
And at last, we come to the PSP title. Strangely enough, it seems two of my theories came true – ‘Birth by Sleep’ became the actual title of a game, and yes – the old man is Xehanort. You read right!

The game centres around the period of the Keyblade War. During this time, Keyblade Masters are commonplace, and our story centres around onesuch apprentice, named… Terra. The game will also eventually split off and explore two other, smaller scenarios, most likely featuring Ven and Aqua. On the topic of Terra’s story though, we follow him and his eventual meeting with both Ven and Aqua, how their friendship develops, and the growth of Terra’s hatred of Xehanort. After another Keyblade master goes missing, and Xehanort disappears alongside him as the main suspect, Terra tracks down his master to understand the truth of his past… and his future.
The trailer in the Mega Theater begins by saying “Far in the past… a hidden destiny is born by sleep…” and then showed off a clip with Terra (who is explicitly named this time) talking to Ven at Hollow Bastion, intertwining this footage with a training session between Terra and ‘Master Xehanort’. Terra summons the Keyblade, as seen in the shot released yesterday. A montage of worlds quickly flashes, featuring previous worlds such as Olympus Coliseum, and a new world that could very well be centred around Sleeping Beauty. We’re then shown an epic battle between Terra and the ‘slave’ Unknown from the ‘Fate of the Unknown’ secret movie. The two battle until Terra gains the upperhand, and as the mysterious figure takes his helmet off, the scene cuts to Mickey summoning his Starseeker Keyblade, and another scene in which Terra watches two boys play on a beach reminiscent of Destiny Islands. Terra then says “Please… don’t depend on me… just erase me, friend…”
The video comes to an end by showing the words “Hidden… days are… born from sleep. The story leads… to an approaching time.” The first sentence relates to the three titles and how they connect, and the second informs us that these all lead into the approaching third major game!
As for staff, the title is, once again, directed by Nomura himself (unlike both versions of Chain of Memories). Is it just me, or is Nomura taking on far too much work at the moment? Three KH titles, Versus XIII, Advent Children Complete and if the rumoured new KH PS3 title is real, that makes a total of six titles! Hopefully this won’t affect quality…
It seems the title will be all we’ve been waiting for and more, finally showing us the truth about Xehanort’s past, and how the Keyblade Wars played out. Keep checking in for more updates on what could become one of the PSP’s biggest titles!!

yeah, the one thing weve been waiting for, actually, im pretty sure its in the past. If terra sees two boys who appear to be riku and sora playing on the beach, then it has to be in the past. And im giving the credit to vids as well for the translations, but i looked on the site and couldnt find and vids, golden, any chance that we can see these videos from the tgs?
I always had a gut feeling that the old man was Xehanort. Now this raises even more questions! I don’t even know what I should question first.

now onto speculation, i agree with Reza, its gotta be the past, and it cant be that far back if he sees sora and riku on the beach, its gotta be somewhere between 11-0 years in the past.
If he sees them though, there has to be some kind of connection with terra and them, but what is it?
I still interesteds in the link between Roxas and Ven. There has to be some kind of connection.

Hey all. Here’s the deal. I do not own a hand held and if I were to get one, I can’t get both cause of money (I am a broke college kid). Which KH game should I get?
Its not a matter or which kingdom hearts game you should get, its what system better suits you. Beucase both kingdom hearts games will rock hard, so their both equally on the line, its deciding what system. The ds is cool and all, but a little G rated, and has alot of kiddy games, but is cheaper. The PSP is more teen oriented and has much better games besides kingdom hearts plus it does music and movies. But its more expensive, now is for you to decide.
Meh… how is he old if its in the past? I dunno… Im a diehard KH fan, but these three seem to be just excusses to make some cash
‘Master Xehanort’ will most probably dictate he’s the father, or that he was reincarnated in the young form. Or perhaps he used the power of Heartless to reinvigorate his soul, making him look young again.

why is all the trailers behind closed doors? this is begining to tick me off. Anyways, if “Master Xehanort” is not Xehanorts father, maybe its some kind of time problem. I know, back to the fact of time travle but follow me here for a second. Xehanort did some sort of time travel, and know hes screwed with the flow, so he starts old, then grows young…Yeah, stupid i know.
And i agree with luna, it really wouldnt matter which game, depends on which system. Cause i think each game is gonna show something special and unique to the story. Dont know about all of you, but eithe way, ill play both, probably wont buy both handhelds, but i will play both games

I already have both, but i dont know if i wanna buy both games at once and play them together, or buy one, beat it, then buy the other, or b uy both, and beat one, then beat the other. and actually i was wondering how thats Xehanort since hes so old as everyones beeen saying here. im thinking like mentioned above, maybe he used the power of the heatless to do something to reverse his age. Or, i was thinking about when DIZ’s machine exploded in TWTNW, he tells mickey its about to self destruct…and ANYTHING could happen. what if Xehanort made a similar machine, and thats why in the video he can make kingdom hearts appear from that littel ball of fire in his hand, but something went wrong, it exploded, turned time back, and erased his memory. But im not sure so dont tear me down or anything.

i think its you, i never made a connection between this and star wars.
If there is a conncetion between roxas and ven.Meaning the conection of sora roxas and ven. It is easier to link Xehanort Xemnas and this old guy. Xehanort cannot be his true name. It is a nobody name. It has got two word do far. ANOTHER and NO HEART. Kind a quizzly. I recall from A secret ansem report I think the last one of final mix if KH 1. where it says. “The heart leaves the body and the spirit remains in the vessel…” Or something like that. That fits in but i dunno whether you guys belive this. Ven might by the spirit. Roxas might be the body and sora might be the heart. Like wise, Xehanort (In KH: assumed the name Ansem the seeker of darkness)might be the heartless. Xehanort (In KH2: Assuming the name Xemnas) might be the nobody. and Xehanort (In KH2 FM+: We named him the bald man) might be the spirit. It fits in with Xehanorts theory of heart body and spririt. Riku lost his dark side in KH2 right? He nolonger belonged to the dark. Why? because his datk potion was no more. Question is where did it go? we can connect this one to the slave of Xehanort seen in the extended movie scene. Dunnnooo….
Think about it. In the prequel trilogy, the Jedi order is in full swing. By the third movie, the Emperor takes power and all Jedi are wiped out near the conclusion of the clone wars.
I am not making a direct connection here, but just plot twist themselves. From what the new games offer, there seemed to be many Keyblade Masters at point. A great war happened and they are wiped out except for a handful.
I know KH and Star Wars are not related in anyway, but just the structures of the stories are similar in some small ways.
Thia could give idea of what might transpire in the future.

regarding your theory 15811576, thats been touched upon before whithh the whole chaser thing, but it does actually fit if there was such a thing as the spirit manifesting(not saying theres not, just saying ive never heard of anything like that) howver i do have one problem with your theory, maybe i just missunderstood it tho.
How can Ven be the spirit of Sora that was created when sora was turned into a heartless, if this is all in the past, proven by terra seing Sora and riku on the beach while terra is the same age, and sora and riku are back in their 5 year old forms. putting that together, terra, ven, and aqua, have to be older than sora, or at least created before them, so if their older than sora, by a good few years, how is it that ven is soras Spirit becasue sora hasnt been turned yet?

After reading a lot of the comments about Ven, Roxas and Sora, my head is starting to hurt…haha.
Going of what Luna asked about how Ven can be Sora’s spirit, I thought of another question, Could Ven have died in the Birth By Sleep trailer? I know that he and Roxas bare quite a resemblance to one another. This conection between the two would more likely addressed. Also, how much time has passed from the Keyblade war to present day to Sora and company. We can spectulate that is has to be greater than 9 years, since remembering back to KH1 where Sora has the flashback showing the event of Kiari’s grandmother telling her the story of the Keyblade war.
Another thought that had occurred to me was that 14th member of the Org, could it be possible that it be Riku? I think that would be explored as well in 358/2 (Riku’s encounter with Roxas).
Who knows, maybe Ven and Sora share the same blood line.

And as far as coded goes, dont get your hopes up. If they were gonna put it on handhelds in the us, they would have done it everywhere. So dont expect to play Coded unless you buy a japanese phone

Organization 13 is a group of ONLY nobodies. They are lost and forgeten yet still human shaped nobodies. So, how can Aqua be the new member, and be the spirit or soul of someone at the same time. That means one of our theorys is wrong, either the 14th member is not aqua, or aqua is not a soul or spirit. meaning that terra and ven prolly arent either .
Well…I’ve been thinking…Axel, at one point, says that he will miss Roxas when he’s gone. How can he miss Roxas if he doesn’t have a heart? Even if he can remember what it was like, it still doesn’t make sense. If I recall, one of the earlier theories was that Terra was Xehanort’s brother. But all of the new info pretty much confirmes that he isn’t. I don’t think that the new member is Aqua at all, I think it’s a new character…I could be wrong. I know I’m just throwing out fragements of thought right now, i’m still thinking. I think it’s all connected somehow……?

I remember playing through KH2 and see how Sora and the gang interact with Org 13. We all know that they have no hearts, but Axel’s behavior suggest otherwise. We all know that Axel does not have a heart however this does not mean they are incapable of feeling emotions. I found it interesting that Sora and party just kind of write them off.
Well, phylisophically, just becuase you dont have a heart doesnt mean you can feel emotions as you said tidus, but taht doesnt mean that Kingdom hearts gets that deep into the human emotion. however my theory on why axel misses roxas, is because he only assumes thats what hes feeling, becuase he cannont differentiate between his feeligns without his heart. He may still feel tehm, becuase he rembmers what its like back before he became a nobody, and now that he feels something again, hes just assuming without proper knowledge that its lonelyness or “missingness”(dont know waht he proper name for missing someone is) thats just my opinion
as for aqua, im nto set that the new member is her either, but, i think it was more than a conincidence as to why Xemnas was callign her armor old friend.
Hey i thought another thing. Maybe ven is sora’s heart. (I maybe a fool) Cuz if i remember correctly Sora becomes a heartless (Heartless do not have hearts) In order to become strong they obtain new hearts. Wait wait. When kairi protects sora, he doesnt get back his heart. He just changes to a human form. This can be related to Xehanort (Ansem the seeker of darkness) who assumed human form. Luna is right. there is a connection. I have not known nobodies who cry!. They cry only when they have emotions right. in KH FM+ we see a scen in whhich Roxas and Axel is on the clock tower. At the end (I dont care whose tear it was) there is a scene where a tear droop falls to the ground. They must have somehow acquired heart. Not roxas, roxas’s heart was away that much we know. But axel:why cry???

Nomura didn’t say the fourteenth member was female, the trailer says it. She has female hips, and one of the members on the chairs introduces her as “The new girl” or something like that.
As for release dates, nothing is concrete, but what I was told was mid-2008 for 358/2 and late 2008 for Birth by Sleep. No idea when English-speakers will get this though.
Oh well, then. Like KH2, I don’t think you’ll have to play through all three games to understand what’s going to happen in the next main game. I think I may have said this once before. Not sure though………

I actually dont think it was mentioned in the game he difference. But my guess is one is the essence of the person, and the other is their being.
AS for the dates, they seem a little too far off to me, i mean, it is nearing the end of 2007, so i guess its likely, but i just hope they come in sooner

as for soul and spirit, we dont know what he differance is because theres really no information about it, my guess, is that soul is the the persons sub-concious, like what differs right from wrong, and the spirit, is like the entity of the being, like without the spirit the person would be like emo, and not want to do anything.

if you remember from the ansem reports tidus, it mention the 3 main parts are the heart, body and soul, when a being is turned into a heartless, it leaves behind the epmty shell of a body, and theoritcally, the soul. It also mentioned about what happened to the souls when the nobody is defeated.
Also i think in one of the vids that we ddint get a chance to see mentions dis-soul, so actually, everything we talked about them was either derived from the reports or is just our own theory

the crossroads doesnt symbolize the 4 people, they symbalize the 4 things of worlds, light, dark, dusk/dawn, and twilight, they have nothing to do with people
They do look almost exactly like the crossroads at the end of kh, and the beginning and end of CoM.

No luna, at the end of rikus story of com, diz asks him if hes taking the road to dusk, he replies, no, the road to dawn, i could be mistaken too, but im 99% certain its dusk/dawn
exactly tho, if Diz asks riku if hes taking the road to dusk, and he says no hes taking the road to dawn, then that means that dusk and dawn are differant roads. If dusk and dawn were the same thing, riku mroe than likely would have said yes. I remember reading some where, that the Roads were divided as if into realms, and each realm had a hero, Light:sora, Dark: Xemnas/Xehanort, Dawn: Riku, Dusk: Diz/ansem the wise.

I have a strange feeling that those new games aren’t going to make it outside of Japan….
I think when DiZ had asked Riku which path he was goin’, it was in somewhat a metaphorical sense, not actual paths, but more the journey of life, if you catch my drift. See, dawn, as in the time of day, leads to the sun, or light. Dusk, leads to the night, or darkness. So in effect, DiZ was asking if Riku was going to make the journey to light or darkness.
And as far as I’m concerned, there’s only 3 literal roads. Light, Darkness, and the Inbetween. Inbetween being for nobodies. And Riku somehow fell into that road, but chose “Dawn” to somehow get back on that road to light, instead of chosing “dusk” to go to darkness.

I agree in that when Diz asks Riku if he is taking the ‘twilit road to nightfall’ and Riku says, no I’m taking the road to dawn, that they were speaking metaphorically. However, I think that there is a dawn/dusk thing. All of the members of Org. 13 had a sort of path they’d chosen. Axel and Roxas chose the dawn path, and the rest chose dusk. I don’t know if the roads actually symbolize that, though. They could just be a set of crossroads where a lot of important events occur.
Okay, I found my theory on my other site. It covers a few different topics, so here we go.
well it does, and not to put you down, but its wrong. There is actually four literal crossroads, that make a cross what sora is seen standing in during COM. what we need to know, is what are the four paths. we both agree that its, Light Darkness and twilight, but we need to know if its Twilight and Dusk/Dawn, meaning Dusk and dawn are the same path, or is it twilight/Dusk, and dawn.
I think its Light, Darkness, twilight/dawn, Dusk
Reze thinks its Light, Darkness, Dusk/Dawn and Twilight.
so who is right?
Since Ven and Roxas are practically identical, what I’m thinking is that somehow Ven’s heart was trapped inside of Kairi’s. Remember, we know that Kairi used to live in Radiant Garden before Xehanort sent her to Destiny Islands. We have no idea who her actual mother and father are (could be anyone really, even Aqua could be her mother, or Terra, her father, as she IS a Princess of Heart, [we don’t know why, as I state later on] and in Ansem Report 11(KH1) Xehanort thinks the Princesses of Heart and Keyblades have a close connection to one another, him thinking they will resonate with each other) since the only thing we know about her pre-Destiny Islands is that she lived with her grandmother, and if I’m not mistaken, inside the castle. (which could very well mean she had known all 6 apprentices) She is of course, a Princess of Heart, but we don’t know the criteria for being one. We only know that they have no darkness in their hearts BECAUSE they are Princesses of Heart, not the other way around. We also know that Xehanort has an obvious connection with Aqua, Ven, and Terra. Which means that Kairi is connected to them through Xehanort. We also don’t know if Xehanort conducted any experiments on her. So, back to Ven’s heart somehow being trapped inside Kairi’s, when Kairi’s heart moved to Sora’s, so did Ven’s. When Sora’s and Kairi’s hearts were released, I’m thinking that since they both became nobodies,(hence having no heart, but in the FM+ Axel/Roxas cutscene, Axel asks about Roxas actually having a heart) Ven’s heart went into Roxas, therefore giving Sora’s nobody the appearance of Roxas. That could also explain why he was able to weild 2 keyblades at all times, because he was part of 2 keyblade weilders, Sora and Ven.
Anyways, what I’m trying to get at is that I think there’s a lot more character connections to Kairi than anyone thinks, after all, she was the first one of the Trio that Xehanort met. Oh, also, Kairi can weild a keyblade that seems to be for her, even though Riku handed it to her, it’s not like he attained it in the regular way, since in the novels(which are canon), when Kairi asks Riku how he got it, he responds:
“I don’t know, something triggered in my mind, like a long-lost memory, and your keyblade appeared in my hand.”
So that could also be related to the 3 in the secret ending. Now, I have a few questions. Do we know the reason why Namine was able to control people’s memories? And when did Namine exactly go back into Kairi?
Speaking of Namine, this other guy had a theory that I spring boarded off of too, and I’m thinking that either 1.Namine gave Riku the keyblade, and she somehow erased the memory, but then reconnected it at that moment. 2.She gave it to him, erased it, and Riku somehow remembered it on his own. 3.While in TWTNW, she somehow “found” a lost memory of the keyblade in Riku and reconnected it. Where the memory came from, I don’t know. Could be related to Terra, Ven, or Aqua.
Also, how old was Kairi when she got moved to DI, because she just might have been born at the same time Xehanort appeared?
Well, as for your Question, Kairi and namine reconected at the end of kingdom hearts two, the same time sora and roxas did, right before sora and riku Go to fight the dragon Xemnas.
Next about your Theory, i may be mistaken, but i dont think theres any proof of kairi ever knowing Xehanort, it was never said, adn just becuase they were in teh same place, doesnt mean they knew each other. Howver they could and for taht i think your theory is great.
I do however agree with you becuase Kairi is the most Unknown charecter of the group, she is the one whos past is hidden, but i tihnk she arrived on DI about the same time sora and Riku did,back when they were 5, as for her parents, i think i read somehwere they were dead, and there was a theory i read that they were keyblade masters, and died in a war, hence the grandmother knowing of the war. from that, Kairi was able to weild a keyblade naturally, and that namine gave riku the power to manifest one for her.
1. Sora and Riku had always lived on Destiny’s Island.
2.It says in the KH1 Ansem reports that Xehanort sent Kairi to DI.

The point, He might have known that sora had the key, thats why he sent Kairi to destiny islands, or he knew that sora was the one destined for it.
Which would bring up the question how?

Sorry, hehehe, it’s the first thing that popped into my head. :p Anyways, your Ven/Roxas/Sora theory sounds crazy enough to be true…Kairi is the one with the most mystery around her of the trio, it’s true. I’ve never read the novels or the anime for KH, so I probably should…this is just my opinion, but I think that if they ever do get a title out for the PS3, it will address more of that.

And in the Ansem reports, Xehanort thought that the keyblades resonated with the Princesses. So if he sent the Princess somewhere, he thought the keyblade would follow in a sense. The reason why Xehanort didn’t keep Kairi there though, was because he thought that, again I’ll just quote it, “If the door has been closed by the key known as the Keyblade, you probably cannot reach that world’s heart again. Before the one with the Keyblade appears in this world, I must take measures to do something.
Supposing that there is a close relationship between the Princesses and the Keyblade, it seems likely that they will resonate with each other…” This was the part right before the other quote. OK, firstly guys, these are newly announced games – why the heck would they be coming out before the end of next year!? Kingdom Hearts II was announced in 2003, the year after KH1. We saw the first trailer in 2003, the game wasn’t released until December 22, 2005 for Japan, so pretty much a 2006 release. That’s three years.
NONE of these games will be out before anywhere near April of next year.
As for leaving Japan, it’s already confirmed. I’ll make an update.

We have a few theories tidus, that somehow age reversal is playing apart and isntead of growing old hes growing young, that master xehanort is actually xehanorts dad/relative, too many and too soon to really narrow it down right now

The images and the fact that trailers exist point to them already being pretty far into production.
Production, as a term, refers to when the teams litterally start any kind of work on the game officially. Kingdom Hearts III isn’t in production because the team that will work on it are doing Versus XIII. These games are though because the team’s (except for Nomura himself) have just come off various games, or aren’t working too hard on what they need to be doing now.
Birth by Sleep – different directors, but mainly the Crisis Core team
358/2 Days – Chocobo Tales team, nothing else to work on for a while
Coded – mostly the mobile team(s), who only have Agito on their hands and don’t need to do too much on that at the moment.

It goes KH1->Chain of Memories->KH2->Coded/BBS/ 358/2days. Its hard to say the order cause no concrete dates been released for the last 3.
But as far as the story line goes, the games go as it appears to me is BBS->KH1->Chain of Memories->358/2 days->KH2->Coded.
Not to mention i forgot the Final Mix games in there, but those are just remakes for KH1 and 2.

well i think that terra is roxas cuz they look identical so i think it’s a story of a war that made terra join the org and change his name. maybe that flashback with sora and riku was them in the present, and that was when sora’s nobody roxas/terra was created, in the great keyblade war long ago…. and plus if terra is roxas then maybe the fact that he’s a nobody could of made him imposible to age…
