Three scans from the new Kingdom Hearts project

Kingdom Hearts 3

Nothing really too new here guys, mostly just extensions on what we’ve already seen, but it’s still pretty interesting. Surprisingly, the most new stuff seems to come from Coded here, as we have a lot of Riku/Kairi images!

As for Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, most of the stuff here we already knew before, and with Birth by Sleep well… I’ll let you guys be the judge of that! Also notice in this scan that we see Ven in the same location we originally saw Terra – on the steps of a castle, fighting the new ‘paper’-styled Heartless.

Hopefully there’ll be more new updates soon (I think we’d all love to see some videos!), but until then, these scans should do!

Kingdom Hearts: Jump Festa Day 1

Kingdom Hearts 3

Rather than make individual articles for every little thing that’s happened today, I’ll just summarise everything of importance in this one article – all you really need to know at this moment is that there is no new footage or images released online, all we have is reports.

Firstly, the 358/2 Days demo has been received well, and Square has stated that the game will be on Japanese shelves sometime around the middle of next year. Which means English players will have it before Christmas 2008!

In the demo itself, there’s really nothing major exposed. The single player demo shows off Twilight Town, and asks players to defeat Dark Side (again…) and the multiplayer demo is set in the same location, but the only objective is defeating a series of Heartless that have appeared around the town. Nothing new is revealed in the story, except that the 14th member is able to kick some major ass (apparently she takes out a Heartless in a split-second as it sneaks up on Roxas and Axel).

Now, on to the trailers. The Coded trailer features some shots of Kairi and Riku, confirming they’ll have some part in the story. The 358/2 Days trailer is more of a short montage, showing a couple of scenes from the demo, as well as a shot where Mickey looks out across Twilight Town’s forest. Disney worlds are also featured, with Roxas being shown with Jasmine and the White Rabbit (who apparently kidnaps him).

The Birth by Sleep trailer is apparently the longest, and a lot is shown off. After the words “Sleep gives birth to the concealed fate of the past.” are shown, we cut to Destiny Islands, where we begin a series of conversations. Rather than summarise these, I’ll let you make up your own mind. Major thanks to KH-Vids for the translation, and FF&KH for the original information!

Destiny Island
The screen then fades in with a conversation between Ven, and Terra.
Terra: “Wasn’t there a time when you were saving me?”
Ven: “Back then it was probably because we were friends.”
Terra moves his hand to rest it on Ven’s shoulders.
Terra: “Thank you, Ven.”

Place of Gathering
The scene then switches to Terra, and Master Xehanort who are in the “Place of Gathering.”
Xehanort: Did you believe about reaching forward to grasp that last glimmer? The wall of light and darkhas exceeded each other, creating the original me, and Terra waited for me impatiently.” (While Xehanort is talking he opens one of his hands in a greeting fashion, angering Terra.)
Terra: “I have a “Friend”! What you have done has given me hatred to Xehanort.”
Terra then summons his keyblade, within the right hand.

Olympus Coliseum
Ven meets Xehanort in Olympus Coliseum.

Ven: “Who a-…I’ve met you before. (Ven is surprised as he is remembering something.)
Xehanort: “It seems you have lost something. However unless what you have lost is put back into your hands, it will be an eternal loss. Once you obtain it, grip it and understand the truth.”

Xehanort is soon holding his hand out, as it begins to glow, Ven is watching with an expression of fear and confusion.

Gameplay
Ven is showed as a playable character now, and Terra is also showed with gameplay. There is also a new Technique shown, with the movie “Aerial.”

Yensid’s Tower
Mickey is shown defending himself with the keyblade. However soon he begins to fumble the keyblade and it vanishes. Goofy, Donald, and Yensid watch Mickey. Mickey soon looks back up to the Wizard, and summons his Keyblade once again.

Sleeping Beauty
Maleficent is looking around the castle where vines are everywhere. The crow soon lands on Malificent’s shoulder as she turns towards Terra. Terra looks at Maleficent, as Maleficent begins to laugh doubtfully.

Place of Gathering 2
Ven is facing off against the Dark Soldier (Xehanort’s slave), and knocks off his helmet, however his face is not shown. The scene soon switches to Terra holding an unconcious Ven, with Master Xehanort looking desperate, and apologetic.

Xehanort: “The person who has wrapped himself in the darkness does not have the qualification to weild a keyblade. He is a demon who has been taken by the darkness. Please correct my mistake…”

Destiny Island
Terra is looking out from the coast towards two boys who are playing at the beach. (Sora and Riku) At the same time Ven is at the town near Destiny Islands, watching the coast. He is looking down, and appears to be sad. “I don’t want to be depended on, you are my “Friend”, just erase me.”

Anyways, that’s a wrap from me today guys – I’ll get back to you tomorrow with the final day of updates from Jump Festa 2008!

Cinderella in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

Kingdom Hearts 3

Yet another scan has surfaced, this time thanks to Famitsu; this one features the enigmatic Ven making his Disney world debut in… Cinderella’s castle!?

kh-bbs_14.jpg

Besides Cinderella however, the only other important factor here is that Terra will meet Maleficent at some point – but don’t all our heroes? :) Sadly, the article’s content hasn’t been translated yet, and I lack the skills as such to do the translations. If anything important is featured, we’ll update you, but Jump Festa is tomorrow – all the important facts will be coming straight from there! :D

Lastly, 358/2 Days controls have been revealed.

kh-358_controls.gif

I was trying to create a translated version of the image file (which would have looked really professional), but PhotoShop was giving me troubles, so I’ll just explain as much as I can translate here. The top section says that the Single Player demo is controlling Roxas on one of his missions, and the multiplayer demo has up to four players controlling only Roxas, Xigbar, Axel or Saix on a mission.

As for the actual controls, the L and R buttons are used to move the camera left and right, but when they are pressed together they lock on to the nearest enemy. The A button is used for the command menu, the B button is used to jump (when pressed twice it acts as double jump, and there is also a way to initiate something called an ‘airslide’ by pressing this button multiple times while pressing any direction, whatever that means. The X button is used to cancel commands, and the Y button is used to initiate a ‘reflect guard’ while standing still, while moving it will be a dodge roll. If the player presses Y after double jumping, they can glide. Start is pause, Select is the menu and the touch screen is the map.

Check back in tomorrow and Sunday, as the event begins in only a few hours time!

New scans featuring the new Kingdom Hearts games

Kingdom Hearts 3

Yep, only two days before the beginning of Jump Festa, new scans featuring 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep and Coded have surfaced online. Nothing mind-blowing is revealed, but we do now know how the Disney worlds will be implemented.

kh-bbs_13.jpg kh-358_11.jpg

As you can see, the images shown on the pages expose a few Disney-related things: firstly, Roxas will be visiting old favourites such as Wonderland, Agrabah and the Olympus Coliseum, amoung others. The Birth by Sleep section reveals a NEW DISNEY WORLD – not only will Terra be visiting a new Sleeping Beauty-themed world, a new Snow White-themed world has been invented as well!

Lastly, on the Coded front, some new images including Riku are featured – what’s Riku doing at the clock tower? We’ll find out sometime, I’ll wager… The article also reveals that all the images of 358/2 Days have been taken straight from the DS, rather than a computer-made build, so this is basically the quality the game will be at upon release. Lastly, talking about the story, it has been revealed that Xehanort’s goal is to simply cause misfortune and anarchy, but he is being corrupted by his own ambitions…

What does all this mean? Perhaps will find out… on Saturday! Don’t forget guys, Jump Festa is less than 48 hours away! I’ll talk to you all then.

Now if anyone would care to fill me in on who that is that can be seen when ‘Coded’ is highlighted, I’d be highly appreciative!

Don’t forget – ten days until Jump Festa begins!

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days official site/demo confirmed!

Kingdom Hearts 3

At last, some idea of what we will be seeing in two weeks time! Recently I informed you that Square had told us the trailers for the new Kingdom Hearts titles would be once again playing in the Closed Mega Theatre, but what they didn’t tell us was that there will be a 358/2 Days demo for everyone to play!

Yep, you read right – 358/2 Days, the first of the new series to be released, is already going to be playable on December 22/23, and you can be sure footage will turn up online of this! Thanks to KH-Vids, we have a translation of the site’s new content:

“A corner demo booth at Jump Festa 2008 has now been determined. There will be an demo corner for Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days on December 22nd and December 23rd by the Square-Enix Booth. The two modes set up will be a Multiplayer mode for 2-4 people, and a Single Player mode. Also a present (gift) is prepared for those who stop by, so come by all means!”

We’ll update you on the day as to what this mysterious gift will be, and as to how the game is playing. Until then, get ready to see one of Square’s most ancipated games in action!
