Newest info on Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days

A new batch of information and a scan featuring Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days has surfaced online, yet nothing major has been revealed.

The new information comes from a recent interview, from which we previously gave you some information. More of this was translated, and from this we are able to show you this new information! This information is from the ever-dilligent Xaldin of KH-Vids!

- The scenes in KH2FM+ featuring Roxas and Axel have now been done in full work detail.
- Roxas will be having a few different forms, such as Sora did when entering Disney Worlds.
- The story of the game will not be entirely understandable for those that do not have the game, however they won’t enjoy it as much.
- Other characters will be appearing there as well, including various Disney Characters.
- However most of the conversations in this game will be revolving around Roxas.
- Those who played Kingdom Hearts II should understand the story even more, and may even understand why this game was put onto the DS.
- The 14th Member is a female who has influenced Roxas in his future actions, however she is too much of an important character in the story to talk about.
- In the event scenes, there will be a little movie, there also may be an opening movie to the game.
- The voice is becoming a issue with capacity but I am trying to find various ways to compress it into the game.
- During this we are re-doing the cutscenes of 358/2 Days as well, this is because on the DS there is a weak design to the data and for every update to the hardware we push 358/2 Days further.
- Even though we have a low capacity problem Nintendo has made it far, even their Rom capacity is going up!….Slowly (laughs)
- The order of Single Player to summarize it up is “Go to mission, Clear Mission, Return to HQ, Prepare for next mission, go to next mission.” There are also small mini events you can do such as after beating a mission join Axel for some Sea Salt Icecream.
- Missions that are beaten in Single Player can be played in Multiplayer mode.

Functions and Restrictions of KH on the DS
- There were many thoughts about making the game, before moving it to the DS.
- One of the thoughts was the capacity of the game, while the other one focused more on.
- The second thought was more on the use of the double screen, and the touchpen.
- When the story of the game was told, everyone was really interested in it, and wanted to work on it right away and deserved special production.
- The main problem of putting it onto the DS was the fact that the polygons of the characters dropped, although we tried our best to keep the cutscenes at least to the feel of the KH series. We are currently trying to fix the polygons for the gameplay to make it as smooth as possible.
- A chat option is added into the multiplayer mode, allowing other players to chat with each other.

Button Operations
- Nomura believes that the KH series feel of combat has kept that feel in 358/2 Days.
- He still will not utilize the touchpen in terms of gameplay.
- The buttons in the demo at JF have been re-arranged.
- Because this time the game will not be able to use an analog stick it doesn’t really fill like the main stream of the KH series to begin with, although we are aiming to get the best feel we can give for a KH game.
- The only complaints about the game given was the having to use the cross pad buttons instead of the Analog stick.
- We adjusted it though, and added a bit of connection between speed, combo and other actions during gameplay.
- The LM gauge is used as co-operation techniques as well as very dangerously powerful attacks.
- The Organization members in 358/2 Days in Multiplayer Mode will have moves from the original KH2, however due to restrictions we might not be able to have all their moves in there.
- Originally the chairs moved up or down when failing or succeeding a mission, we might change that a bit.

Phew – that’s a lot of info! Anyways, to add to this is a little except from a recent magazine article, showing off the most anticipated upcoming releases. On the left page we have Capcom, with Monster Hunter 3, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and (obviously) BioHazard 5. Below this is Konami, and only Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is featured here. However, turning your attention to the right page, we have the upcoming Square-Enix releases: Dragon Quest 9, Dragon Quest 5, Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, Final Fantasy 13, and of course, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days! It’s good to know the game is garnering much attention in the lead-up to its release, and is considered one of the ‘big releases’ of the coming months!

Nintendo Dream on Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days

The March ’08 issue of Nintendo Dream, a Nintendo-centric publication, has a short interview with Nomura himself, in which he reveals a few new words of wisdom!

Firstly, he mentions that the controls featured at the Jump Festa 2008 demo have been highly revised, and now feel “much better”. What this means is currently unclear, but we’ll wait and see…

Apparently, some new images of the game are featured: one that shows Kairi and Riku together, and another showing… Riku as a boss!!! This probably means we’ll get to play the scene from ‘Deep Dive’!

Lastly, the DS card’s data capacity came into question, with Nomura revealing that the original plan was to have voices featued throughout the whole game, but the size means it may only be specific scenes. He does mention, however, that they are trying to find a way around that issue, and you know Nomura – he always seems to find a way out of size issues!

We’ll get back to you soon when scans turn up online!

New translated info on the new Kingdom Hearts titles!

Yep, I’m back from my vacation! Anyways, straight to the news, Xaldin of KH Insider/KH-Vids fame has translated another new article from gaming site 2ch, but seeing as not too much new information is included, I’ll just directly quote him here.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
- The 14th member is not revealed yet.
- Roxas’ gameplay in single player mode has been changed slightly to give a more Kingdom Hearts feel.
- Roxas’ must collect hearts everyday, in Organization XIII Saix tells Roxas to be more careful next time.(?)
- The game will be moving throughout from Kingdom Hearts 1 – Kingdom Hearts 2.
- Items obtained in Single Player Mode, can be used in Multiplayer Mode. Also the bottom screen is mostly used to display the map and target, however it is not complete.
- The new gauge LP Mode has not been fully revealed, but is hinted to be used for powerful techniques.
- In single player mode the arrow is under the right corner of the screen, when in multi player it’s under the left. They didn’t say if this mysterious arrow (Not the arrow showing where your character is) can be used by the touchpad or not.
- There is a type of missions called “Hologram Missions” that can be used in single and multiplayer mode. These missions are not part of the main storyline at all. This is also how the Organization members trained.
- When doing missions you’ll be graded with either a “G” or a “N” The “G” means you did good, and your chair will begin to rotate and rise. If you get an “N” the chair will begin to descend, as you either swayed away from your mission or did a bad job.
- The ability of Dodge roll gives more of a KH1 feel then it does KH2FM+
- Some returning enemies from KH1 will be back, however they have been revamped and there are a few other surprises in the game.
- This game is considered to be a mix of the normal Kingdom Hearts feel, as well as a dark feel to it.
- The Organization character’s personalities will be fully revealed in this game, this way you can follow the cutscenes better, and the conversations between them can become more interesting.
- This game features an interesting twist in the battle system where you can chain your attacks together! You can attack, use dodgerolling, glide and more into just a single combination!
- The actions and defenses of each Organization member is new, and they all have their own special ability! Xigbar was able to use stronger attacks for a short while.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
- The scene of Cinderalla and Ven, is that Cinderalla is rushing towards the castle while Ven is staring at it, what could have caused this scenario?
- There is a possibility of event limitations within the game.
- Donald and Goofy watch as Yensid trains with Mickey in order for Mickey to become a stronger Keyblade warrior. What is his purpose to gain this power?
- Terra and Malificent are working together, Terra’s smile is hinting to a connection but Nomura won’t say what.
- Nomura hints that not all three Keybladers are connected to the three heroes of Kingdom Hearts II, however this game will explain the original conflict of the Kingdom Hearts series.
- The new enemies names are not announced still…

Kingdom Hearts: Coded
- The scene of Riku in Neverland is to show what Riku was thinking before he kidnapped Kairi.
- The scene showing Traverse Town where Sora meets Donald and Goofy will be focusing on what Pluto did during that time.
- Sora can glide in Coded.
- The heartless have invaded the data, however they are not bugs.
- High-Speed Mode makes Sora run really fast, as Crash Mode turns the game into a sidescroller action!
- Debugs have a certain timelimit, if you fail to eliminate the bug then you can attempt again with other debugging methods.
- Upgrade Points (VP) can be used to help Sora become stronger, and these are done by bug eliminatin and heartless destroyed. Each heartless is worth 10 points.
- KH Coded’s Online play can be used to join in and help other players in the game. However the system changes when in the other player’s world, can you escape it? By the way the player’s other then the one that joined will be shown as a shadow Sora to prevent confusions.

Anyways, if you’ve got any questions on this, feel free to ask me in the Comments! Keep checking by for new updates in the near future!

Two new scans of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days

Higher-quality versions of the images we’ve already shown you are up online now, thanks again to Famitsu Weekly. These scans come directly from their latest issue, in which more 358/2 Days material is revealed!

kh-358_20.jpg kh-358_21.jpg

As mentioned earlier, not much new here. I’ll do a few translations of my own here on the spot though, perhaps I’ll reveal a few new things:

Second Page (nothing to really translate in the screens on the first page)

- The two screens on the right reveal the functionality of the bottom screen. Basically, the left is single play and the right is multiplay, and the bottom screens are showing a map and a mission objective. The mission objective is to ‘Defeat Darkside’, which for memory, is the large Heartless that Sora battles at the beginning of the original Kingdom Hearts.
- Also notice that in the single play (left) map screen, the area he is in is the ‘Tram Common’.
- In the flashback scene on the bottom right (in the Organisation HQ), the speaker is mentioning Roxas being able to wield the Keyblade.

Besides that, all I have to say is that the game looks simply amazing, and the footage we saw mid-last year seemed really smooth. If that’s able to be kept up throughout the whole game, I think we may have a new KH masterpiece here!

Newest Famitsu scans featuring Kingdom Hearts!

Once again, more scans prominently featuring Birth by Sleep and 358/2 Days have surfaced online, this time thanks to Famitsu Weekly. Nothing ground-breaking is revealed, but we do get a good look at gameplay and graphics.

kh-bbs_16.jpg kh-bbs_17.jpgkh-bbs_18.jpg kh-bbs_20.jpgkh-bbs_19.jpg kh-bbs_21.jpg kh-bbs_22.jpg kh-bbs_23.jpg kh-bbs_24.jpg

Well, I’m sure we all know by now that this is Birth by Sleep, the PSP title set ten years before the original Kingdom Hearts. What we DIDN’T know was how the battle system would work. Well, we can now confirm that it DOESN’T use cards, and there’s no conflicting ‘stock’ system. However, the system is very different – rather than explaining myself, this translated excerpt from bittermeats of KH Insider.

Differing from the former series largely, there is no MP bar. After a fixed time elapses, the skills and the magic become usable again. In addition, when you attack, the “COMMAND” gauge rises. Then when this accumulates, an additional command to use a powerful attack appears. With Terra and Ven, pay attention to the differences in this battle system!

The COMMAND gauge rises when I attack it with â—‹ and â–³ button. When the thunder part is red, it is impossible to use while charging. When you stop attacking, the COMMAND gauge will decrease. In addition, you can set the â–³ button skill. In order to efficiently continue to attack, you’ll probably be able to customize.

Terra has exclusive use of the “FATAL MODE”. In this mode the gauge rises when you move around and constantly use the additional skills. And an additional command appears when the FATAL MODE gauge reaches the MAX. Connecting this with a powerful finish move, you will scatter the enemies.

What this all means, we’ll see sometime this year…

Next, 358/2 Days!

Not much to mention here. Game is looking excellent by the DS’s standards, really seems to capture the feel of KH gameplay (particularly KH1). Cut-scene graphics seem gorgeous, story is apparently “darker” than the usual games, meaning it could really be incredible. Anyways, the game releases in a little over six months time in Japan, so I’ll tell you then!

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates soon! Also, I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! Thanks to everyone in the comments for sticking with us for so long, sorry that KHGlobe hasn’t gone ahead as we envisioned it, but hopefully thing should get running this year in time for 358/2 Days! Until then, thanks again!
