Disney praises Kingdom Hearts
This is really not so much of an update as it is an intriguing information – it’s a cool look at what happens behind the scenes on the Disney side of Kingdom Hearts creation, instead of us hearing from Nomra all the time!
The interview was conducted by Gamasutra and abbreviated here by KH Insider. Enjoy!
Gamasutra: Speaking of moving away from licensing out Disney’s core properties to other publishers to work with… is that a blanket policy? Is that something that’s going to phase in over a course of years as the contracts expire, or are you not really discussing that?
Disney: The key thing for us is being flexible. We never said that we wanted to move away from licensing, and we don’t intend to. Great examples of licensed games that we make that we would love to continue to make those licensed games.
A great example of that is Kingdom Hearts. It’s a great collaboration between Square and ourselves. Disney characters are in there, and Final Fantasy characters are in there. It’s the kind of collaboration that works, and where we see other opportunities like that, we will do them.
Gamasutra: Certainly I think, not that you’ve suggested this, but I think that Kingdom Hearts is a fantastic example of Square Enix doing something with your characters that you couldn’t do yourself. You couldn’t replicate that, because it’s got Square Enix’s stamp all over it, but it still retains the Disney just as strongly. Obviously it would be, without my theorizing on the relationship, would be a great thing to continue in that vein.
Disney: Yeah. I think it would be a sad day for gamers if there were to be no more Kingdom Hearts. We love the franchise, and Square Enix loves it, so we want to see it continue, and they have more games coming out.
Gamasutra: Yeah. There were three at TGS, so there’s definitely going to be more Kingdom Hearts.
Disney: There’s a lot of life left there. There’s a lot of stories to tell.
Gamasutra: I can’t remember the DS game’s title. It’s so awesomely horrible. What is it… 365 days over two…? No, 358 days over two — which is the subtitle. It’s so incomprehensible, it’s so great. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.
Disney: What I can tell you is, trust Nomura-san. He always delivers –
Gamasutra: He delivered about half of the Square Enix Party, their big event in Japan last year. He delivered literally half of the games on show, I think were his responsibilities.
Disney: He’s a tremendous talent.
Gamasutra: And as I understand it, he’s a complete workaholic, so it’s kind of a win-win for Square and him, because he doesn’t have any interest in doing anything else anyway.
Disney: Having been to dinner with Nomura-san at 11 PM at night in Tokyo is… we’re jetlagged, so it works well for us.
Gamasutra: It sounds pretty simple when you put it that way. I think part of the problem… well, not the problem, but the perception is that it’s sort of like a syllogism. Like, “Kids’ games are crappy, and Disney makes kids’ games, thus Disney will be crappy as a publisher.” You know what I mean. It isn’t necessarily true, but that’s probably the conclusion that people are reaching, to an extent.
Disney: I think for us, to create great content that appeals to a broad audience, it’s not just about selling to kids. We want something that grown-ups will want to play with their kids, and that gamers will play. I think Kingdom Hearts is a great example of what they can do. There are plenty of single guys in their 20s who love Kingdom Hearts. There are plenty of families that have played it, and kids that have played it, and that’s the kind of model we’re looking for.
So there you have it, straight from the mouths of Disney themselves. Once again, sorry this isn’t a real update, but there’s honestly nothing to talk about at the moment; Square is being unsurprisingly tight-lipped about all their major franchises at the moment.

So what if I watch Hannah Montana?! I watch it because it’s funny, like in one episode the brother tries to fix the sink or something and he is talking to the one friend and says “I got bit by so many spiders, I wouldn’t be surprised if I woke up tomorrow with super spidey powers!”. So then later, thinking it’s fixed, he put some Chinese food down the sink and turns the shredder on, it runs smoothly until the dad comes out of the shower in a robe with the food on his head, then he gets on the kitchen counter, sticks his hands out like Spider Man and says “Sft! Sft! Sft! Dang it!”. Then at the end he bangs the fridge making a beat and makes a huge mess, the dad yells “Jackson, what was that?!”, he gets on the counter again, does the Spider Man thing again and says “Sft! Sft! Sft! Dang it! I gotta get these things fixed!”. I don’t know about all of you, but I thought it was hilarious! LOL!
Well I think when Walt Disney was alive the disney channel was better I liked watching the old catoons in gray and white and the old mikey mouse when I was little. They had better catoons on that channel when Walt was still alive now they are making it all gay teen shows with real people for exsample, Thats So Raven, The Sweet Life Of Zack And Cody, Cory In The House, and more……I mean disney was a catoon channel before and since Walt died his brother or whoever took over changed it!….The only catoon channel now is catoon network but most of the catoons on that channel today are gay too, the old ones was better and the old Toonami or however its spelled when they actually showed more japanese anime.

Its an anime, not a cartoon.
Is it animated? Yes? Cartoon. Anime is simply a different style of animation than western animation, still cartoons. May have deeper polt material and darker storylines but still a cartoon.
Here’s a question, If Terra’s weapon is a Keyblade with no Keychain, do you think that the keyblade is stronger with or without an attached keychain. Or perhaps it takes immense strength to weild a keyblade without a keychain?
who knows maybe the keychains are just for looks on the keyblades or maybe in furture games they could do different things like up grade your weapon
I believe the better keychains of the game, like the ultima weapon, fenrir and oblvion, the chain is actuall weaker, allowing weilders to call forth more strength of the blade with little problems.
And yes, dive it is animated, but i rather not fight with ou on it cause we both know im right. Cartoons are for kids, up to about 8 years old. Anime has what oyu said, a plot, darker parts, like blood, fighting, killing, swearing. When was the last time you seen an american cartoon have that.

So you believe that even the power chains like Ultima and Fenrir still subdue the Keyblades natural power? Wouldn’t that in effect make the keychains themselves have more power initially to achieve such a feat? While the weapon Terra was using did seem to be incredibly flexible in the methods which it could be used as we’ve seen But as Sora increases in skill, it becomes more apparent in his swordplay. Wouldn’t you say that his power is funneled and refined if not enhanced by the keyblade he fights with. The inate abilities of the keyblade he uses affects his fighting style for heavily magic use or swordplay.
ex. When fighting Xemnas and he runs vertically up buildings and jumps from ship to ship, you definately can’t be doing that in the begining of the game. Or in his ridiculous combos in Final Form. I say that he brings out alot of the Keyblade’s potential there because his movements are almost as fluid as Terra’s in the video or Roxas’ during the Final Mix Boss fight with him

I think the keyblade chains weaken the keyblade, well not actually weaken, they hide the true power of the keyblade so people with less strength can wield it. The key chains just transform the keyblade with different powers, Like oblivion brings out the dark side of the keyblade but still hides its true power. I’m sure one day when Sora is much older, he will no longer need the key chain to wield the keyblade, if my theory is rite. Keyblade Bonkai, I am 12, I have a very unique mind. Quack.

It was when Xemnas asked Mickey why he hated the Darkness and the King replied that he was only frightened by it, he didn’t hate it. Riku noted that it was the ones that dwell within the Darkness that were their enemies.

These questions can’t be easy! And it was true, I think it was KH FM, look up secret battles for final mix on You Tube that’s where I got it. Plus I know it’s real because it showed the gang in a Hollow Bastion room and an Organization XIII member appears, he never talks and he uses all of the moves Xemnas used like the sabers and the explody energy balls and that shield thingy. Next question, what does Jack Skeleton call Santa Clause?
Sorry to double post, but I just realized something, the armor that the chasers are waring is the same armor Xemnas wares in KH2 in the last battle, when he was that big knight guy with the giant staff and you had to fight him twice and the second time you fought on that giant beast. I wonder if that had something to do with the chasers?

As for whether Xemnas’ armour is related to the Chasers, the answer is probably. In Final Mix+ he talks to Aqua’s armour and refers to her as an old friend of some sort, so he has a connection to the Chasers somehow.

GoldenEyeRa got it direct hit! In the video I looked closely and saw at the beginning when Ven is standing on that giant thing (I know he is standing on it because when he walks forewords he starts to walk down), after the three meet up in the middle the giant thing he was standing on disappears, looking at it closely you can see that giant thing was one of those nobody dragons like you fight in the last level of KH2. So that makes me wonder, were there nobodies in the keyblade war?

Well, if we are under the impression that the BBS trailer fight with the 3 knights, master xehanort, and his minion of sorts, had all those keyblades, that the war has already happened. If that is the case, then no, nobodies could have not have fought in the war primarily cause they did not exist yet

for all we know it could be the dragon, xemnas is the nobody of Xehanort, so how do we know that master Xehanort cannot controll something similar to the dragon of Xemnas (or whatever the hell that thing was) we dont. i think the dragon terra was standing on was from another battle, and its symbolic becuase we saw it in KH2 symbolizing there is going to be another keyblade war.

The first video was just a concept video so everything in that video will maybe not be in the game. So Luna is right about that maybe shows that it will happen again. Just as Micket, Rikus and Soras keyblade was there just as well. Just to show connections about something that mayeb will happen. The secret ending we get to see at the end of KH2 takesplace at a different time than the other new ending. This has to be true because none of those three were using the keyblades they picked up.

Well Master Xehanort actually had a kechain at his keyblade. And his keyblade didnt seemed that much weaker then the others. Even if he kicked ven, Aquas and Terras ass with his magic but other wise I like the theory

1: did anyone notice all Organization XIII members have X in their names, Xemnas, Roxas, Xaldin. 2: Except for Xemnas, if you take the X away from all Organization XIII member’s names and rearrange the letters you get their real name, Roxas/Sora, I didn’t figure out any more yet. 3: In KH2, in the clip near the beginning with Kairi and Selphie walking if you look closely Selphie has a Moogle on her bag, not important but thought you should know. 4: In KH1 near the beginning when you are in Traverse Town, the entire time you’re there Mickey is also walking around town.

Actually Reza, Mickey was in Traverse Town at some point. In one of the scans for Coded Mickey is shown saying how he too was there the same day Sora was.

guys t-pain is one of my friends i went to his house yesterday for a sleep over, well he thinks playing kingdom hearts 1 all over again is crappy well he did finish kingdom hearts 1 and chain of memories so he said he doesn’t like the story of kingdom hearts 1 lol, so wut i missed?

We can all sya it was amazing, cause therwise we wouldnt like it. Its a new game, so the story had to take a new step. And if it wasnt good, i wouldnt have beaten it as many times as i did. However, what we cant forget is that it was the kh1 story that got us hooked.
The first one seemed a bit childish, while kh2 storyline had a bit more of a grownup/adolescent feel to it
thats not true, i got hooked of of KH2, because i played Kh2 first.
well, with the exception of backwards luna here, haha, most of us played kh1 first…like it should be, ahha.
I dont know luna, i just wouldnt be able to do that, play a sequel game first, it would just confuse me so much
well i didnt really like the destiny islands part of kh1 when i was young, so i sorta gave up. but then when kh2 came out, i was fully into my Walt Infatuation, so i played it for the disney aspect, and got through the boring as hell first part, which got me into kh1 again. and the rest is history.
The up side of playing a sequel first and then the previous game is that you see the story and then you see how it all began. I played Ratchet and Clank Going Commando and then Up Your Arsenal-I’m not sure but I might have played Deadlocked too-all before playing Ratchet and Clank 1. And Luna, I’m not criticizing you or anything but I personally LOVED the Destiny Island level, the last rank I made I stayed on the island until I was at level 14! I figured out the best way to level up is to fight Wakka and just keep hitting those balls back because each one gives you 1 exp. point, and then just try not to hurt him. I know it’s just wrong but does anyone notice in KH1 whenever Sora climbs something it looks like he’s humping it. IT’S JUST WRONG!!!
Well it was actually KH2 that got me a hook on KH. Well I was trapped in Hollow Bastion in KH1 and since I was a bit young I didnt minded and just quit playing it. But then I saw that KH2 should be released later that year so I decided I should start playing it again. And then I manage to beat the game bought Kh2 some months later and after that I was trapped.
well i got stuck in destiny island when everything got dark because my television its bright was in low so i could not see anything but it changed my life i picked up the controler and maded brighter then i passed everyting well for me the story kept going enteresting and more curios, my brother kept making fun of me just because i was playing a disney game but most of his friends likes the game hahahah, well i found out about kingdom hearts 2 my self thats what got me using the net cool huh it changed my life.
who thinks that Leon was difficult cause i did a little bit, but since the story keeps going it doesnt matter. I thougth that it was hard since the start.
Leon wasnt hard at all as long as you countered his gunfire attacks to stun him, if you didnt, then yeah, it was hard
remember in kingdom hearts 1 when u get to travers town you have to fight leon i lost the first time and i thought i had to win so restarted ang kept trying but the same thing happens sora always faints

yeah I think kh1 got me hooked because I was younger and liked the fact that disney was mixed with final fantasy……….besides that when I was younger I always liked disney cartoons I watched them alot and then I started to like final fantasy as I got older I didnt know that much about it but then kingdom hearts came out some time after and I thought it was pretty cool that they mixed it with both disney and square enix, and I dont care what people say about it being a little kids game most people that say that have not even played the game! Also anyways yeah both of the games do have pretty good story lines I could not realy pick what one I liked better. Well, the only thing i wish NOT to argue about your take on saying they should stop makin final fantasy. I dont know, maybe the fact that it is the only series/game that everyone knows, whether they played it or not, they know they game. It is the best selling series in the history of video games. That, and since from game to game, it has no story line ties from its predecessors with a few exceptions, the series shows no sign of dying.
Yes there is a few things they are tweaking in ff, like the random battles, completly gone. That one thing revamped everything, so, for the sake of arguement, ff will never go away

some of the games, well, actually, all of the Final fantasy games that i have played, have the slowest start to any rpg game i have ever played, it is ridiculous. But with rpg’s, your suppose to get involved with not only the story, but the characters even more so, that is why the first couple hours is mainly stroy and little crap mission, so you can understand the people. Im not saying that is not boring, cause it truly is, its crap, but not much you can do, you can only change a grand hit so much before people get put off.
ANd no, it doesnt have much to do with CERTAIN companies. Square-enix does most of the major works, and as far as i know, FF games doesnt have any other companies helping them in the works of there games. As far as KH, yeah, they did use some outside help like bvg, a third party developer, but i cant ay if it would have made much of a difference or not if they kept with their original

I said the start was slow not the fights, i love the fight cause they actualy take skill, strategy, and with FFXII, openess. You have to position your characters, choose the right magick/skills, instead of just wailing on the same button over and over again like kh.
Not sayignt hey should completly changed it cause otherwise too many fans would be put off, but i would hope they involve the reaction commands a bit more and advance them. Eg, using more than the triangle button, like even the shoulder buttons, and using prefect timing instead.

Well Ive only played FFX and even if I havent beated it ( I accidently erased it)it still was one hell of a game. It had a really deep storyline and everything around it with battle system and things like that it was just wonderful. But still everyone cant like a game so its okay if you dont.

please excuse me sora, its beem a while since i played the game, so im going on about 4 year memory here. Once you got the oathkeeper from kairi, and approached the mural, you should have gotten the new gummi piece. Now, if that didnt work by opening the new route. You do not need to seal 100 acre wood to get back to hollow bastion, you jsut wont see the secret ending, or get the ultima weapon i believe.
Now, anyways, if the route is still not open, go back and talk to everyone. Cid, kairi, try definitly leon, merlin, and um…cid again, haha if that doesnt work, talk to everyone, all the main characters, all that good stuff, and that should unlock something the enw path

Actually, major brainstorm right now. I think we just opened a major whole guys well i did anyways. BUt think about this In kh1, when we sealed Kingdom Hearts, we supposedly made it to the way it originally was, where the worlds were seperate and locked from each other, till the heartless came and opened the doors. Meaning that the gummi ship could travel from world to world, but if the heartless arent even created yet, meaning that they arent the main enemies yet. But if they werent theoritcally created yet by forbidden research….then how was the routes to all the world opened?

Try to find a good Bible beliving church that accepts you for who you are and how you look and does not judge people by how they look and shun them away from the church. #2. Read the Bible its where you will find all the answers to life, and yes I know somtimes its hard to understand the Bible, heres a tip, try to get a teen study Bible or easy english Bible like easy vocabulary, I have one, and also another one is like the NIV Bibles #3. I REALLY wanna drop the subject. About a week ago I started a new rank on KH2 on proud mode because I only ever beat it on easy, and if I’m gonna make it harder, I’m going all the way. 1. proud mode, obviously. 2. keeping Kingdom Key, Knight’s shield, and Mage’s Staff as main weapons. 3. not equipping any armor or accessories. Rite now as I’m posting this I am taking a break from having a little trouble with Demyx in Hollow Bastion, but I can definitely beat him tonight. :D

Anyways, whether people want to admit it or not, religion is the most important topic anyone can talk about. And becuz of that it’s the most controversial. And becuz of that people don’t wanna talk about it. They’re too worried about staying “politically correct” and not offending or bothering anybody. But the fact of the matter is just ignoring the subject doesn’t do any good. It’s like ignoring that you need air to breathe. EVERYONE has a religion, whether they’re Aethiest or Christian or Muslim or Buddhist or whatever the heck Reza is. They believe in something, and that belief affects the people around them. Most believe if you don’t believe what they believe you’re going to be condemned. That affects people. Religion is a choice of belief, true, but that doesn’t mean that there’s no right or wrong one. There HAS to be a right or wrong way. It’s the way things work. Whatever you believe, you believe that yours is right and everyone else’s is wrong. Now tell me, if you thought something was wrong, would you not say something to the person who was doing it? And if you didn’t say anything, then that’s in effect saying you don’t care about them at all. Like seeing someone jump off a cliff. Now Dark Oblivion was doing what all of us should be doing. Telling people about our religion and beliefs becuz they affect everyone around you, and not ignoring the subject becuz A) it “doesn’t matter” or B) cuz you don’t want to offend people. And that may seem like a good thing, but it’s the exact same thing as watching someone jump off a cliff, and not saying anything becuz you’re afraid of offending them by saying “You’re going to die”. Now once you told em, and talked about it, and they still wanna jump off that cliff, then let them have their peace. But you’d still do the same thing for every person who tried to jump off that cliff, so that you might save some. Although, if you believe that no one’ll be condemned, then by all means, share with us your enlightenment.(no rudeness implied)

Yes, there IS a secret ending to KH2. But the only way to get it is to beat it on medium mode, beat all of the worlds and complete the journal, or beat it on proud mode and you only have to beat all of the worlds. If you play on easy mode, there is no possible way you can get it, plus you could just watch it on Youtube. Hope that helps! :)

they got soem extra scenes, like kh2final mix has a bunch of extra scenes with the organization, you get to fight all the members over again, and that is where we found the battle scene they we all speculated from. okay everyone sry for the 2 post but kingdom hears is really confusing me i mean theres a scene in kh2 final mix that they show aqua’s armour and keyblade and some mysterious female character can someone explain why
okay, there are 3 different pictures, but in every single one of them the resolution is way too low to make out eye color, even if you save it an zoom in a ridiculous amount, you cant clearly see any color in axel’s eyes.
And the only scene i can figure your talking about is when xemnas goes into the room below his studies and talks to an “old friend”, is that the one your talking about?

I went through the Ansem reports (written by Xehanort) all over again. And now I have some more question about things. The two things that caught my eye. First thing was about the heartless and the energy core in Radiant Garden. The second one was the four worlds. I reccomend you to take a look. We need some KH stuff to discuss about and maybe this can entertain us until new info.

Well weve been talking about the four roads and worlds to it. So the world of present seems to be the fourth world. Would that be in the next game? Will it even be spoken of? Was it just something that Xehanort thought it was? And an energy core in radiant garden. What kind of energy was that? Was that the heart of the world? Was it just an unknown place?
The 13th report interests me the most. He’s basically talking about the nobodies. Odd, he doesn’t give a name to the spirit and soul ones. Hmmmm………………
Well the spirit is inside the body. Then if thats the case what happenes when a nobody is defeated. Is the spirit released? Or is the spirit not that important? These reports bring up some strange questions

Just a guess, I bet Aqua’s nobody(assuming she has one on account of her armor and how Xemnas addresed her remains as a friend) is the # XIV. Their back stories are whats elusive. But Terra, Ven and Aqua stories are explained in the games so why worry?

Yes but because Sora stabbed himself with the dark keyblade the princesses got their hearts back. Don’r forget that the dark keyblade was made up of the 6 princesses of heart. I say 6 because it wasn’t until he stabbed himself that Kairi and the others actually woke up. But I wonder if the other 6 princesses have nobodies or heartless roaming around………….
Pobaly not? I mean there all good, they wouldnt really have a heartless, the didnt lose there heart? So ya. I just got the action replay for the ps2, it rocks! The down side is that with allot of the codes the game freezes, like if you’re playing as DW Roxas, the game freezes if you talk to someone. Also some of the codes don’t even do what they say they do. It was kinda cool playing as Mickey and constant anti-form though. Haven’t figured out how to play as Riku yet, but I will keep researching for more cheats! And I’m not sure if it is for KH2 or KH2FM but I read that after completing Jiminy’s journal that a portal opens up in Disney Castle, and through it is a secret boss battle with Terra, and if you win you get a keyblade, (don’t know if it’s his or not) after that you can go to Timeless River where there will be a new door, go through and help Mickey out, then I think you get Test The King which is a shield for Goofy and you are able to summon Mickey. If any of you have any information about any of that, I REALLY WANT TO KNOW!!!

Guys didnt the princesses had their heart even after the heartless took them. I mean when Ansem seeker of darkness tried to open the door/keyhole or whatever it now was (I cant remember) he still couldnt since Kairis heart was taken and was kept inside Sora.
But if they now lost their heart they would have a nobody but they cant have a heartless since the princesses has no darkness in their heart.

Bio-the battle with terra in disney castle, is in fact only in final mix…trust me, i tried to get it, 100% on both normal and proud mode, and you ant summon mickey either in the original, only in final mix, yeah, i read somewhere it was in both too, but that was a lie.
Teruptis-Good is the same as evil, too much of it and it can corrupt you, take over you. Pure good is jsut as bad as pure evil, both is tremendous power that they have. But technically, no heart can be absolutly pure, no matter how good you are, including the princesses, not saying that they do have heartless’s, but it is possible.
Eagl-the princess’s didnt hae their hearts, thats why they couldnt wake up, like someone said, it was locked away within the dark keyblade. And yes, he tried to open the door to darkness, but since kairi’s heart was inside of sora, he couldnt.

Darn it! I was really looking forward to that. So what DOES happen if you get 100% on Jimminy’s journal in proud mode? And I have a DS action replay as well, however I only use it for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl.
Plus, the princesses most likely DO NOT have heartless because when somebodies darkness and hatred take over them they become a heartless, (with the exception of Sora’s case in Hollow Bastion) but that did not happen, they only lost their hearts, meaning that they most likely have nobodies lurking around somewhere. Also, when someone is turned into a heartless, I thought that only the strong hearted have nobodies.
No you will become a heartless when you give in your heart to darkness or if your heart is taken by another heartless. And when that happens the body and soul creates a nobody. But the stronger person you were in your real life, light or dark sided, you create a nobody that looks just a little bit different from the real looking you.
But Kairis heart was lost but once again I repeat myself she didnt have any darkness in her heart and couldnt create a heartless so instead of that the heart was taken by darkness it went to Sora. But she could create a nobody after it.
And when Sora stabbed himself with the heart keyblade he must have released the hearts from the other princesses that was trapped in the keyblade somehow. But now to do that they must have lost their heart and by that create a nobody. But not a heartless since they didnt have any darkness in their heart

Hey its true,both games had a different story line but they always end up explaining something from the past.Sothe next games are going to answer a little bit of information.

Wait, are you talking about in the beginning when you are in that strange world and you fight some heartless and Darkside? Because I know that when you do that you get a dream weapon to fight with before getting the Keyblade on Destiny Islands. But after that you don’t get to keep them.
Yeah, if it is when you fight darkside you get to choose the three, there is no real point of those weapons, all that does is depict how you level up and what sklls you get and waht order.
And yes, you do get shields and staves in kh1 like you do in the second. I jsut dont remember which ones you actually get
Well there actually was a cheat that made you wield that sword. But thats all I know about it.
In KH1 you can get that shield with the three eyed dog face on it and you can get that staff from those purple wizards.

But…was there actually an explanation for WHY kairi’s heart went to sora? i forgot! plus, in kh 1, i thought malificent said that only the 7 princesses of heart would be able to reveal where the keyhole was in hollow bastion. She had 6, and she knew she had 6. Why would she do that little scene where she says (something like) “O princesses of heart, reveal to me the keyhole” if she knew that she only had 6? and how did it work since there were only 6? I thought she needed all 7

This is really not so much of an update as it is an intriguing information – it’s a cool look at what happens behind the scenes on the Disney side of Kingdom Hearts creation, instead of us hearing from Nomra all the time!
The interview was conducted by Gamasutra and abbreviated here by KH Insider. Enjoy!
Gamasutra: Speaking of moving away from licensing out Disney’s core properties to other publishers to work with… is that a blanket policy? Is that something that’s going to phase in over a course of years as the contracts expire, or are you not really discussing that?
Disney: The key thing for us is being flexible. We never said that we wanted to move away from licensing, and we don’t intend to. Great examples of licensed games that we make that we would love to continue to make those licensed games.
A great example of that is Kingdom Hearts. It’s a great collaboration between Square and ourselves. Disney characters are in there, and Final Fantasy characters are in there. It’s the kind of collaboration that works, and where we see other opportunities like that, we will do them.
Gamasutra: Certainly I think, not that you’ve suggested this, but I think that Kingdom Hearts is a fantastic example of Square Enix doing something with your characters that you couldn’t do yourself. You couldn’t replicate that, because it’s got Square Enix’s stamp all over it, but it still retains the Disney just as strongly. Obviously it would be, without my theorizing on the relationship, would be a great thing to continue in that vein.
Disney: Yeah. I think it would be a sad day for gamers if there were to be no more Kingdom Hearts. We love the franchise, and Square Enix loves it, so we want to see it continue, and they have more games coming out.
Gamasutra: Yeah. There were three at TGS, so there’s definitely going to be more Kingdom Hearts.
Disney: There’s a lot of life left there. There’s a lot of stories to tell.
Gamasutra: I can’t remember the DS game’s title. It’s so awesomely horrible. What is it… 365 days over two…? No, 358 days over two — which is the subtitle. It’s so incomprehensible, it’s so great. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.
Disney: What I can tell you is, trust Nomura-san. He always delivers –
Gamasutra: He delivered about half of the Square Enix Party, their big event in Japan last year. He delivered literally half of the games on show, I think were his responsibilities.
Disney: He’s a tremendous talent.
Gamasutra: And as I understand it, he’s a complete workaholic, so it’s kind of a win-win for Square and him, because he doesn’t have any interest in doing anything else anyway.
Disney: Having been to dinner with Nomura-san at 11 PM at night in Tokyo is… we’re jetlagged, so it works well for us.
Gamasutra: It sounds pretty simple when you put it that way. I think part of the problem… well, not the problem, but the perception is that it’s sort of like a syllogism. Like, “Kids’ games are crappy, and Disney makes kids’ games, thus Disney will be crappy as a publisher.†You know what I mean. It isn’t necessarily true, but that’s probably the conclusion that people are reaching, to an extent.
Disney: I think for us, to create great content that appeals to a broad audience, it’s not just about selling to kids. We want something that grown-ups will want to play with their kids, and that gamers will play. I think Kingdom Hearts is a great example of what they can do. There are plenty of single guys in their 20s who love Kingdom Hearts. There are plenty of families that have played it, and kids that have played it, and that’s the kind of model we’re looking for.
So there you have it, straight from the mouths of Disney themselves. Once again, sorry this isn’t a real update, but there’s honestly nothing to talk about at the moment; Square is being unsurprisingly tight-lipped about all their major franchises at the moment.

well the first question is confusing but ill answer as best i can. the company that bought pixar, is the same company that Disney created. they havent changed, just went under new ownership and gotten a new CEO. so its pretty much the seame company.

So what if I watch Hannah Montana?! I watch it because it’s funny, like in one episode the brother tries to fix the sink or something and he is talking to the one friend and says “I got bit by so many spiders, I wouldn’t be surprised if I woke up tomorrow with super spidey powers!â€. So then later, thinking it’s fixed, he put some Chinese food down the sink and turns the shredder on, it runs smoothly until the dad comes out of the shower in a robe with the food on his head, then he gets on the kitchen counter, sticks his hands out like Spider Man and says “Sft! Sft! Sft! Dang it!â€. Then at the end he bangs the fridge making a beat and makes a huge mess, the dad yells “Jackson, what was that?!â€, he gets on the counter again, does the Spider Man thing again and says “Sft! Sft! Sft! Dang it! I gotta get these things fixed!â€. I don’t know about all of you, but I thought it was hilarious! LOL!

Well I think when Walt Disney was alive the disney channel was better I liked watching the old catoons in gray and white and the old mikey mouse when I was little. They had better catoons on that channel when Walt was still alive now they are making it all gay teen shows with real people for exsample, Thats So Raven, The Sweet Life Of Zack And Cody, Cory In The House, and more……I mean disney was a catoon channel before and since Walt died his brother or whoever took over changed it!….The only catoon channel now is catoon network but most of the catoons on that channel today are gay too, the old ones was better and the old Toonami or however its spelled when they actually showed more japanese anime.

Is it animated? Yes? Cartoon. Anime is simply a different style of animation than western animation, still cartoons. May have deeper polt material and darker storylines but still a cartoon.
Here’s a question, If Terra’s weapon is a Keyblade with no Keychain, do you think that the keyblade is stronger with or without an attached keychain. Or perhaps it takes immense strength to weild a keyblade without a keychain?

I believe the better keychains of the game, like the ultima weapon, fenrir and oblvion, the chain is actuall weaker, allowing weilders to call forth more strength of the blade with little problems.
And yes, dive it is animated, but i rather not fight with ou on it cause we both know im right. Cartoons are for kids, up to about 8 years old. Anime has what oyu said, a plot, darker parts, like blood, fighting, killing, swearing. When was the last time you seen an american cartoon have that.
Cartoons have no plot whatsoever, they jsut ammuse us. Animes, are more intuitive, bleach, naruto, even stuff like, digimon, yugioh, those are animes, not cartoons

So you believe that even the power chains like Ultima and Fenrir still subdue the Keyblades natural power? Wouldn’t that in effect make the keychains themselves have more power initially to achieve such a feat? While the weapon Terra was using did seem to be incredibly flexible in the methods which it could be used as we’ve seen But as Sora increases in skill, it becomes more apparent in his swordplay. Wouldn’t you say that his power is funneled and refined if not enhanced by the keyblade he fights with. The inate abilities of the keyblade he uses affects his fighting style for heavily magic use or swordplay.
ex. When fighting Xemnas and he runs vertically up buildings and jumps from ship to ship, you definately can’t be doing that in the begining of the game. Or in his ridiculous combos in Final Form. I say that he brings out alot of the Keyblade’s potential there because his movements are almost as fluid as Terra’s in the video or Roxas’ during the Final Mix Boss fight with him

I think the keyblade chains weaken the keyblade, well not actually weaken, they hide the true power of the keyblade so people with less strength can wield it. The key chains just transform the keyblade with different powers, Like oblivion brings out the dark side of the keyblade but still hides its true power. I’m sure one day when Sora is much older, he will no longer need the key chain to wield the keyblade, if my theory is rite. Keyblade Bonkai, I am 12, I have a very unique mind. Quack.

Sorry to double post, but I just realized something, the armor that the chasers are waring is the same armor Xemnas wares in KH2 in the last battle, when he was that big knight guy with the giant staff and you had to fight him twice and the second time you fought on that giant beast. Jack calls Santa Clause Sandy Claws. Xehanort can be X Another or X No Heart. You play as Roxas for six days, he doesn’t get to go on to day 7.
Oh, and Teruptis, there is a scene in Kingdom Hearts I where Kairi’s grandmother explains the events of the Keyblade War.
As for whether Xemnas’ armour is related to the Chasers, the answer is probably. In Final Mix+ he talks to Aqua’s armour and refers to her as an old friend of some sort, so he has a connection to the Chasers somehow.

GoldenEyeRa got it direct hit! In the video I looked closely and saw at the beginning when Ven is standing on that giant thing (I know he is standing on it because when he walks forewords he starts to walk down), after the three meet up in the middle the giant thing he was standing on disappears, looking at it closely you can see that giant thing was one of those nobody dragons like you fight in the last level of KH2. So that makes me wonder, were there nobodies in the keyblade war?

Well that movie was just a concep vidoe so the secret ending could from the beginning be a trailer for KH3. And also it was Terra that stood on top of it.

Well, if we are under the impression that the BBS trailer fight with the 3 knights, master xehanort, and his minion of sorts, had all those keyblades, that the war has already happened. If that is the case, then no, nobodies could have not have fought in the war primarily cause they did not exist yet

Well then what was that thing Terra was standing on? You make a good point, but that is the time around when Ansem the wise started his experiments, meaning it is still possible that nobodies could have been in the war. I’m not stating a fact but I’m pretty sure because I was reading some info about KH and it said that the movie happened 10 years ago, then it said that’s around the time when Ansem started his experiments, well, not exactly like that but it explained it that way.

for all we know it could be the dragon, xemnas is the nobody of Xehanort, so how do we know that master Xehanort cannot controll something similar to the dragon of Xemnas (or whatever the hell that thing was) we dont. i think the dragon terra was standing on was from another battle, and its symbolic becuase we saw it in KH2 symbolizing there is going to be another keyblade war.

Just as Micket, Rikus and Soras keyblade was there just as well. Just to show connections about something that mayeb will happen. The secret ending we get to see at the end of KH2 takesplace at a different time than the other new ending. This has to be true because none of those three were using the keyblades they picked up.

MAybe to jsut show the connections of a sort to the characters that we already know perhaps. Or maybe the keyblade we saw them use were the ones we saw picked up, jsut the keychains removed.

thats another good thought reza, maybe the keychains were just removed. however that makes me wonder, why on earth would you fight someone stronger than you with a brand new weapon. maybe they just set it back down and went to fight MX. however its not in a differant time, the two videos take place one after the other, because in the first video we see the shadow walking in the distance, and then in the second we see the same shadow come close enough to be identified.

Maybe they werent brand new weapons…What if they used these keyblades all along. And how we are refering to these keyblades are just reversed. WEve been saying that that is mickeys or this is rikus. Im guessing originally, they belonged to these knights.
And im also guessing that they werent using a brand new weapon luna. Im sure they jsut didnt realize that these keyblades had this kind of power. When they finally did realize it, they trained to be able to tame in, then finally using it for the first time, this, the secret ending.

Well Master Xehanort actually had a kechain at his keyblade. And his keyblade didnt seemed that much weaker then the others. Even if he kicked ven, Aquas and Terras ass with his magic but other wise I like the theory

Well, if you noticed keyblade, that the formation made by the keyblades was actually the “crossroads†of the 4 realms, as seen in com…as luna put perfectly but im too lazy to just delete all i said, haha…but then again, it should be more than a coincidence that they ended up like that, but i still doubt it was put there by someone.

If no one has anything to talk about, lets just ask questions again until the next article comes out. But first I have four facts to state, I don’t know if you guys already know these things, but in case you don’t, here they are.
1: did anyone notice all Organization XIII members have X in their names, Xemnas, Roxas, Xaldin. 2: Except for Xemnas, if you take the X away from all Organization XIII member’s names and rearrange the letters you get their real name, Roxas/Sora, I didn’t figure out any more yet. 3: In KH2, in the clip near the beginning with Kairi and Selphie walking if you look closely Selphie has a Moogle on her bag, not important but thought you should know. 4: In KH1 near the beginning when you are in Traverse Town, the entire time you’re there Mickey is also walking around town.
Okay, here’s the question, who can name all seven wonders of Twilight Town?

We can all sya it was amazing, cause therwise we wouldnt like it. Its a new game, so the story had to take a new step. And if it wasnt good, i wouldnt have beaten it as many times as i did. However, what we cant forget is that it was the kh1 story that got us hooked.
The first one seemed a bit childish, while kh2 storyline had a bit more of a grownup/adolescent feel to it

well i didnt really like the destiny islands part of kh1 when i was young, so i sorta gave up. but then when kh2 came out, i was fully into my Walt Infatuation, so i played it for the disney aspect, and got through the boring as hell first part, which got me into kh1 again. and the rest is history.

The up side of playing a sequel first and then the previous game is that you see the story and then you see how it all began. I played Ratchet and Clank Going Commando and then Up Your Arsenal-I’m not sure but I might have played Deadlocked too-all before playing Ratchet and Clank 1. And Luna, I’m not criticizing you or anything but I personally LOVED the Destiny Island level, the last rank I made I stayed on the island until I was at level 14! I figured out the best way to level up is to fight Wakka and just keep hitting those balls back because each one gives you 1 exp. point, and then just try not to hurt him. I know it’s just wrong but does anyone notice in KH1 whenever Sora climbs something it looks like he’s humping it. IT’S JUST WRONG!!!

Well it was actually KH2 that got me a hook on KH. Well I was trapped in Hollow Bastion in KH1 and since I was a bit young I didnt minded and just quit playing it. But then I saw that KH2 should be released later that year so I decided I should start playing it again. And then I manage to beat the game bought Kh2 some months later and after that I was trapped.

well i got stuck in destiny island when everything got dark because my television its bright was in low so i could not see anything but it changed my life i picked up the controler and maded brighter then i passed everyting well for me the story kept going enteresting and more curios, my brother kept making fun of me just because i was playing a disney game but most of his friends likes the game hahahah, well i found out about kingdom hearts 2 my self thats what got me using the net cool huh it changed my life.

yeah I think kh1 got me hooked because I was younger and liked the fact that disney was mixed with final fantasy……….besides that when I was younger I always liked disney cartoons I watched them alot and then I started to like final fantasy as I got older I didnt know that much about it but then kingdom hearts came out some time after and I thought it was pretty cool that they mixed it with both disney and square enix, and I dont care what people say about it being a little kids game most people that say that have not even played the game! Also anyways yeah both of the games do have pretty good story lines I could not realy pick what one I liked better. And it seems like they did make kh2 a little more for square enix fans then disney also I have a question Eagl you or if anyone can answer it, ok you know how on the kh1 case at the bottom where it says disney inter active well on the kh2 case it does not it says bvg buena vista games, is it a different company that helped make kh2 and not the same as kh1?

Well, the only thing i wish NOT to argue about your take on saying they should stop makin final fantasy. I dont know, maybe the fact that it is the only series/game that everyone knows, whether they played it or not, they know they game. It is the best selling series in the history of video games. That, and since from game to game, it has no story line ties from its predecessors with a few exceptions, the series shows no sign of dying.
Yes there is a few things they are tweaking in ff, like the random battles, completly gone. That one thing revamped everything, so, for the sake of arguement, ff will never go away
