Kingdom Hearts 3 - Theories

The ramblings of GoldenEyeRa: What could happen in Kingdom Hearts 3 and what probably will. And maybe some stuff that won’t…

INTRODUCTION

Firstly, every single word said after the ‘Introduction’ section has no truth in it whatsoever. It could indeed be fake. It could ring true. I have no idea, honeslty. The facts are, I’m a writer (who knows the innerworkings of a Nomura/Nojima tale), and prefer fiction – it’s just that I’m stuck having my reporting published these days. This is a chance for me to weave a tale. So I present to you Stage One – retelling the tale.

PROBABILITIES

  • Face it – the knights in the trailer are most likely the Chasers, or are Chasers. I’d expect there to be many more than three Chasers – they probably prowl in packs, searching (or chasing) out Keyblade wielders during what seems to be a war. Most likely the Keyblade War that Kairi’s grandmother spoke of during the original Kingdom Hearts.

  • Xehanort isn’t finished with yet. We may have seen the end of him in KH1, but that doesn’t mean we can’t flashback to this mysterious past. “Memories of Xehanort”? More likely flashbacks of him before he met Ansem.

  • Obviously, the leading three (Sora, Riku, Kairi) will appear as major characters, but how long after the second title can’t be said. I’d expect a larger gap this time – think three or four years.

    • POSSIBILITIES

  • Xehanort’s memories start to seep out into the present – in other words, there is some way that the lead three discover the truth about Xehanort’s past.

  • Expect to see a flashback scene with Xehanort first meeting Ansem. Picture a stormy night and Xehanort beating on the doors to Hollow Bastion, crawling his way in and being taken under the wing of Ansem…

  • …And then a flashback revealing Xehanort’s betrayal. Expect it to be similar, except this time Xehanort is in a position of power, waltzing into Ansem’s study with the rest of the defecting scientists (Ienzo, Braig etc) and overthrowing Ansem. Also, don’t be shocked to see them all wearing early versions of the Organization cloak.

  • Another flashback: Ansem becomes DiZ – living in exile and the first time using the costume.

  • New villains – Organization XIII, like it or not don’t really exist anymore. A few members will make appearances (mainly flashbacks), but the main villains will probably be new or related to current characters, but still unknown. I’m thinking Sora’s relatives may make an appearance, most notably some long-lost brother or a father.

  • Come to think of it, that man in the secret trailer could be Sora’s ancestor, a young version fighting during the Keyblade War. Perhaps, Xehanorts memories start to become reality again and history repeats itself – Second Keyblade War, anyone?

  • I’m thinking one of the main three will either die, or be left in oblivion at the end as a shock-ending. Disney won’t want a main character dying, so I’m thinking Riku may be trapped in an endless void, where he can’t return from.

  • Young Xehanort for one of the final battles – he comes out of these ‘memories’ which become reality, and must be sent back to where he originated from.

  • As for the scene at the end of the FM+ trailer, I have a feeling the Organization member is Xemnas, talking with the memory of Sora’s ancestor from Xehanort’s memory. Remember, Xemnas shares Xehanort’s memories, so he would remember whoever this person is.

  • And as for why Xehanort somehow appears centuries ago during the War in the first place, it’ll either be A) Time travel or B) Memories from another (new) villain of that time have been placed in Xehanort’s heart, which also causes his amnesia. Think of it as a long line of memories, coming down from one person to another: This man during the war has a connection to the royal family (linked to ‘Kingdom Hearts’), and Xehanort is a decendant of that royal line. Eventually, an event occurs that makes these events appear in Xehanort’s memory, but cause an amnesia. Hence, he believes he was in the Keyblade War.
