Newest Famitsu scans featuring Kingdom Hearts!

Once again, more scans prominently featuring Birth by Sleep and 358/2 Days have surfaced online, this time thanks to Famitsu Weekly. Nothing ground-breaking is revealed, but we do get a good look at gameplay and graphics.

Well, I’m sure we all know by now that this is Birth by Sleep, the PSP title set ten years before the original Kingdom Hearts. What we DIDN’T know was how the battle system would work. Well, we can now confirm that it DOESN’T use cards, and there’s no conflicting ‘stock’ system. However, the system is very different – rather than explaining myself, this translated excerpt from bittermeats of KH Insider.

Differing from the former series largely, there is no MP bar. After a fixed time elapses, the skills and the magic become usable again. In addition, when you attack, the “COMMAND” gauge rises. Then when this accumulates, an additional command to use a powerful attack appears. With Terra and Ven, pay attention to the differences in this battle system!

The COMMAND gauge rises when I attack it with â—‹ and â–³ button. When the thunder part is red, it is impossible to use while charging. When you stop attacking, the COMMAND gauge will decrease. In addition, you can set the â–³ button skill. In order to efficiently continue to attack, you’ll probably be able to customize.

Terra has exclusive use of the “FATAL MODE”. In this mode the gauge rises when you move around and constantly use the additional skills. And an additional command appears when the FATAL MODE gauge reaches the MAX. Connecting this with a powerful finish move, you will scatter the enemies.

What this all means, we’ll see sometime this year…

Next, 358/2 Days!

Not much to mention here. Game is looking excellent by the DS’s standards, really seems to capture the feel of KH gameplay (particularly KH1). Cut-scene graphics seem gorgeous, story is apparently “darker” than the usual games, meaning it could really be incredible. Anyways, the game releases in a little over six months time in Japan, so I’ll tell you then!

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates soon! Also, I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! Thanks to everyone in the comments for sticking with us for so long, sorry that KHGlobe hasn’t gone ahead as we envisioned it, but hopefully thing should get running this year in time for 358/2 Days! Until then, thanks again!
