PrE3! New Kingdom Hearts information at E3 ’07?
Hi everyone. It’s been a while since our last update, and so I’d just like to refresh everyone as to what’s happening at the moment.
Firstly, E3 officially begins July 10th, but new news on all games is beginning to come through from developers before the doors actually open – this happens every year around three days before the show, hence the ‘PrE3′ nickname. As for Kingdom Hearts’ prescence at the show, word is Nomura will speak a little more candidly about upcoming entrants in the series. What this means is we’ll be getting some more info on what we’ll be seeing in the next spin-off title. Don’t expect a name, a full-blown synopsis or a confirmation as to whether the title will be on DS or PSP, though; that’s all being left for this year’s TGS.
Secondly, in the realms of Final Mix+ and the US, we haven’t heard anything concrete since the last update, but word is that it won’t be happening. Wait until E3 heats up and Square’s press-conference goes ahead – they’ll talk about the game’s prescence in the US, at which point they’ll either say “Yep, it’s happening and you’ll see it here in a few months time” or “Sorry guys, but we just didn’t think it was profitable to publish more titles on last-generation’s technology.”
Personally I’ve got my money on the second option, but knowing Square’s lust for easy money, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Lastly, I’d like to take this time to tell everyone what’s going on with our next advancement – Kingdom Hearts Globe. We talked about the site a few months back and how the place would be run, but it seems we’ve hit some major snags. First and foremost, I’d like to say a whole-hearted farewell to our old webmaster here, Ash Barnes. Many of you may remember him as the bubbly overzealous youngerster who oversaw the site’s day to day activity, and continued to advocate a forum for the site. As of April 9th, 2007, we haven’t seen or heard anything from Ash – prior to this he was online pretty much every day by ritual. Sadly, after such a long period of abscence, we have had to conclude that something untimely has happened to Ash, and work out a new way to move foward.
This therefore means all webmaster duties have reverted back to Rey, but I’ll be here every day to make sure things continue on track. This also leaves KHG stuck between a rock and hard place – it can’t move now. Our co-webmistress also had to step down from her position to pursue her day-to-day career, which leaves only Rey and myself. A small blog-site such as this can easily be run between the two of us, but a media power-house based around the series would be impossible, especially without a specific webmaster.
In the next few weeks, we’ll be posting open requests both here and on Final Fantasy Insider for new staff for the site to apply. If you think you’ve got what it takes, please follow the steps we’ll provide you with and offer us a hand – it’ll be a great opportunity for you to further your website credentials.

First Post! I totally agree that Final Mix + is not coming to the US. Several other sources are pretty sure that it is not leaving Japan. Oh well. I hope they choose wisely on which console they are going to put the next installment on. PSP would be the better of the two.
Who knows. Square likes the money so… we’ll find out in September I guess! :D

That would never happen special, Kingdom hearts to me, is more popular in some cases in America then it is in Japan, so it would be a huge dump on the series if they never brought it here.

Isnt the DS the one that sells best of the two handhelds in Japan? Also someone at the SE in noth america said that there would be no games for the PSP. Might not be true but still said
It sell the best cause its a Nintendo product, im not saying that its better or that psp has its flaws, cause truth is i havent played either one.
And i cant see an entire company like square not making a single game for the psp. They might not, but to say there not is ridiculous
I’d say go for the PSP. I don’t think the game would be good on the DS.

I tried playing the DS and I can’t operate that damn pen. It gives me twitch when I am done playing it. To me the PSP is more function.
When I play, I play KH into the ground(I logged in about 150 hours plus on KH2 playing proud mode). I don’t want to sit here and get carple tunnel at a young age and get a cross-eyed twitch from trying to get past the start screen on the DS.
I want to be able to play it with a natural flow and beat the games so many times that the final boss will start calling me daddy.
To all who can’t operate the pen, I pray for you. It takes a real idiot to not be able to tap a touch screen. To all who think the next spinoff should be on the PSP, there is no real innovation that can be introduced using the PSP. With the DS, using the touch screen can enable total interaction and could be utilized as the main weapon. If it comes out for DS, I am sorry for everyone who doesn’t know how to play them or who get twitches from playing them.

Sorry Ventus, but I am with hammers. The pen is a pain in the ass to use. I have DS myself. The pen is a joke and it takes away from the excitement from the game. So Ventus if you want to be a little monkey and tap the screen with a pen go right ahead, I will wait for the emulator to come out and not have to ue that damn pen. Dumb jerk off!!
I havent put that many hours into all 3 of my kh2 games combined, i got my proud mode sora up to lvl 99 in less than 30 hours, im playing it again on normal cause im looking to get everything this time. Im gonna complete jiminy’s journal.
And heres what i want to know, why in the hell are you guys argueing about the ds pen? i played with it a little, but no major games, and i find it interesting, not something that would seem to seal the deal for a kh game. And sy, im not agreeing with ventus about the pen being awesome and it takes an idiot not to work the pen, but seems to me it would take skill to use it properly.

The world of Versus XIII might be a little closer to my personal taste than Kingdom Hearts, but the entire project owes something to Kingdom Hearts as well. When I first began KH I was part of the FF core team, and tried to bring elements of that into the development. The KH team was always inspired by FF, and I’d like to see that reversed. But as for the differences between KH and FF, KH is a lighter world of magic, fantasy, and people doing good things. I’ve been in that world for a very long time – perhaps too long.”

Versus XIII has blood featured in it, which I think makes this a large departure from KH already.
Gameplay-wise though, yes, it’s gonna owe a lot to KH, which should be cool. This is still my most anticipated Final Fantasy game, although English-speakers won’t be able to purchase it until 2009.
Dont matter to me golden, square has plenty of games coming out that will keep me busy till then, and even some non-square games will definityl keep me busy. I dotn know where you got that quote Eagl, but that sure sounds familar, i heard he was taking alot from kh and putting it into versus, so a kh style game, that is a final fantasy game, i dont think there can be anything better.
Man i did’nt get the ps3 so if kh3 came out for only ps3 and not ps2 that would be really bad.

Don’t worry Rex, the rate the PS3 is going I am sure in 2 years time, KH3 will be out on the 360. I know there was a $100 price drop in the PS3 but this is going to be a waiting game.
Actually SE said in an interwiev that kingdom hearts3 will be for ps3. and that game will be out some years from now. First tey have to finsish the new serie and then they have to start working on KH3.

I would have never asked about that eagl, i knew it was gonna be on ps3, and will still be a few years, were one of the few here that actually understands and the rest still believes that kh3 will be coming out this year, its sad.
I saw some art on google, im sure its completly fan made, it was box art of the ps3 game Kingdom hearts, with the subtitle The Keyblade Wars. Like i said im sure that is fan made, but it still looks pretty cool.
In order fir the KH3 to be on PS3, the PS3 still has to catch up to the Wii and the Xbox 360. Let’s be honest, do any of you think that Square will put a highly popular game onto a gaming console that is not doing so hot?
I sure hope that the price for a PS3 comes down even further, otherwise it is going to put people into a pickle who want to play KH3 but don’t want to buy a PS3.
Im gonna lay this down right now, alot of people are talking crap about the ps3, but you know what, if you look at the stats, the ps3 did better than the 360, in the first 6 months of both their releases, the ps3 sold 50,000 more consoles thatn the 360. If the ps3 is failing, then why did it sell more in the first 6 months?
And once again, kh3 isnt coming out for another 2 years at least, the price will have definitly dropped, twice if not just once, and in the next 6 to 12 months for the ps3, the best games ever are coming out, army of two, heavonly sword, the list continues.

I should lay this down. A lot of people out there on the market feel that the current price still too high. Look at Sqaure Enix Exec’s. They feel that the price is still too high and Konami is considering making MGS4 a multi-platform game because of doubts with the PS3. Sure there are games coming out for the PS3. I am not going to pay $600+ for game.
Oblivion, you are looking at the first 6 months. Key words being first six months. Presently, sales are lagging, that’s why they had the $100 price cut. Square Enix president John Yamamoto telling GamesIndustry.biz, “I think USD 500 for PS3 is still a bit expensive for most gamers.” And when you hear to big names like Komami and Square Enix for Sony say they have doubts, what does that tell you?
Sony has said it sold 3.6 million PS3s in the fiscal year ending March 31 and expects to sell another 11 million in the current fiscal year. Microsoft said in its most recent quarterly earnings report filed in April that it had shipped 11 million Xbox 360s.
Bottom line is that sure sales have double since the price cut, but the PS3 is still behind the 360 and Wii. Doesn’t it tell you that the PS3 was in trouble when they slashed $100 USD??
Interesting when you said the ps3 was in trouble. the matter of the fact is, the ps3 had too high of expectations. And that fiscal year your talking about, the 360 was also out for longer than the ps3, as well as having games being released that made people want to buy that system, does the ps3 have those kind of games? Ill admit, not really, Motorstorm and Resistance are perhaps the best games out right now.
And i can tell you exactly why it is still behind because the wii, thats a family console. Simple as that, it has no big sellers really that makes someone go out and get it. You say PS3 and Sony are falling, when Nintendo’s top games have mario in the title, there afriad to do something new, sony did, and there doing a great job if you ask me.
360, a great system, im not gonna lie, i dont own one, the only game i really played was call of duty 3, but that game alone isnt enough to make me go out and buy the system for myself. Yes Sony has made that a little expensive, but what about the elite? charging 400+dollars for a new hard drive? i dont see much of a difference here
The PS3 is a good system. I own one! The game selection is a little poor but I have some games that count. I have Motorstorm and it is an okay game. Sorry Oblivion it may be one of the best sellers, but I don’t think it lives up to all of the hype.
Oblivion, I would say that biggest problem is like i said, the game selection is poor. I know that you said that there are new games coming out. But some already look like downers. My brother and I play Gears of War a lot. They just announced on IGN.com one of the games coming out is Army of Two. I think that is a copy-cat game to Gears of War.
I think if and when the new KH3 game comes out it would probably be in the best interest of Square to make it multi-platformed like they are talking about doing for MGS4. It seems like so far the biggest thing I have seen when I go into places like GameStop, etc, people commit to one system because of prices. I know that prices will fall, but I think it is smarter now to release games on both plat-forms that way people don’t have to bye the other just to play that one game.
If you are a committed fan to Kh and you really want to play the next game, are you going to break down and buy the system just so you can play the game?
I have a lot of comparisons on the 360 and PS3. The most recent one I have was on gamespot.com. They evaluated Spider-Man 3 on both systems and concluded that 360 version was all around the better game.
My brother has the Xbox 360 Elite. You are not just paying for the new hard drive but also the HD DVD player as well.
I think that one of the mistakes that Sony made on the PS3 was having it play Blue-Ray and not HD DVD. The only movies out there are ones that are supported by Sony from the get go.
I know that it is going to take time for everything to get up and running but I question what medias are going to win out there…Blue Ray or HD DVD.
All and all, the PS3 is a good system. Did I pay to much? I would say yes. I think I should have waited but it was worth it.

mgs4 is a ps3 exclusive, and i heard about army of two and the idea almsot 2 years ago, and dom, isnt smart ai, infact he is quite dumb.
The player models? hd and bluray? i think bluray is winning that one actually,i heard that blockbusters are no longer holding hd format, and isntead is turning to blu-ray.
In the end, some think that a ps3 exclusive for kh is a bda idea. I think it be a horrible idea to release it for other systems without first releasing the other 2.
MSG4 may not be a PS3 exclusive. Hammers was correct in the fact they are considering making MSG4 multi-platformed.

For right now it is exclusive. What I am saying is that in other interviews, he has talked about the possibility of milti-platform. He could decide exclusive now and change his mind tomorrow.

That game series has aways been a PS exclusive, and, unless Microsoft buys the company who makes the game and forces them to make it for the 360, then it is gonna be on the PS3.
Looks like you’ll just have to save up to buy a PS3 so you can play it.

Gears is Third Person Shooting only. Army goes back and forth. Army should also have more then 6 hours of game play. and an easy to understand plot. and more jokes. and cooler guns. made by random people who entered their contest thing. and references to MacGyver made by the AI.
And, Oblivion has a point, Dom is DUMB on the higher two difficulties. I mean, he’s like “Hey look a Berserker! lets stand infront of her and give her a hug!” *massive, bloody death*
Plus Army of Two’s Live Play should not be as glitchey as Gear’s was
No offense golden, but metal gear isnt my thing, so i dont know why im arguin about it. But thanks Agios, from what i heard, gears was taking from army if anything. The ai if you choose, is super smart, and with some of the new additions there amking to the game, army is gonna be a lnadmark game. Sorry guys, newest statement always wins. Sony re-confirmed today, MGS4 stays PS3 exclusive… at least for the moment.
The person who was talking last week to Reuters about bringing MGS4 to X360 was the head of Konami – final say rests with Kojima-san. Kojima was on stage, right next to Kaz Hirai and that other Sony exec, and was with Aki Saito, when the exec officially gave the word.
So, as of this minute, MGS4 is 100% PlayStation 3 exclusive.
Look like Obl and Sychs have been tooth and nail. I got to back Goldy’s last post. Even though MGS4 is 100% exclusive PS3, but things can always change.
To even both arguements out, here’s my input. Not every console is flawless. Yes, I own a PS3 as well. Maybe it’s just me but there’s no way you can extract data from the PS3 and put it into another memory card for the PS2. Let’s just say that every game system was perfect. If this were true, then Sony and any other company would lose out big time on money. How do you think they make the money they’re making?
WEll org, that isnt something new with the data on memory cards, you cant put data from ps2 games on ps1 memory cards, there jsut isnt enough data room. And about things always changing, i agree with that too, but thats a real bad business decision to be on stage at sony, and saying that this game is an exclusive, then trun around and stab them in the back like that.
And once again org, im right with you, they cant make every systme perfect, otherwise, they would have stopped at the first one. And if a system came out, and it had all the “perfect componets” such as backwards capability, online, downloads, flawless loads, i would be sort of scared. Cause nothing is perfect, no matter how hard you try to

I don’t know whether to make a new article or not – Square pretty much jumped out of E3 less than a day before it officially began…
They had no conference, all they did was show a couple of trailers for some upcoming DS games, Final Fantasy XI’s newest expansion and a couple of other small games.
So… should I make a new article to inform everyone that Square ran or… should I pretend nothing happened? I’m a little lost at the moment… :D
I can understand that… but I think you should just make an article, just so anybody knows…
I hope they will give some new info quickly, by the way…
I checked with some of my sources. They said since Square did not make an announcement or show anything at E3, it could be the fact they may not be ready to show anything yet and will probably do so sometime within the month and a half.
Golden, you should start a new article so that way Oblivion can be feel better about having a chance to get the first post.
Haha hammers, i always had the first post cause i had to get up at like 6 in the morning to get ready for school, and when i was done i would check the site, thats why i always get the first one. But now with me working full time, its kinda hard to do that.
Anyways, i dont think they never held a conference cause they didnt have any new info, they had a crapload they could have told. News on kh and the series like final mix and the side quest, they gots a lot of new series coming out, they had mroe than enough to make at least an appearance.
That or they are planning on stealing the show at the TGS, highliting everything there is probabyl the best bet there going with

Perhaps after TGS they’ll have something more to show at the new E4 as well… who knows.
a little FYI – This may or may not totally true. It is possible that Square is waiting for the TGS to unload information about upcoming projects.
Rumor has it that one of the projects is a CGI movie like FFIV: Advent Children. I don’t know if this is 100% true, but if it is this gives a better idea of what they are working on.
that would be awesome, i want them to make a movie so bad. even if its minor it would be sweet. and i agree, square will prolly wait for a big event to release info.

TGS is the place to do so since it is in their own backyard. Is it not weird how Square does something like that. To think, it seems like they make Japan to be the location of all the die-hard fans.
yeah, but i dont know, info might not be released all at once, square might want it to be drawn out, and do small bits at times like commercials instead of hitting hard all at one time and place. so i dont know.

The title(s) will be revealed at TGS. Basically it just means we’ll be shown a trailer of the new portable title, and given information on that.
Nomura will probably tease us on other things, and looking at KH2′s marketing history, expect a teaser trailer for the new PS3 title.
And im sure its not to tease, but to piss us off, in that teaser for the ps3 title, he might show those knights, and somewhere at the end hell show sora like lying motionless with the keyblade broken or something crazy as hell

That is an interesting question…What do you all think? If they are to end the series with this keyblade war game, and if there gonna show a teaser trailer at the tgs, what do you think would be the worse that they can do to us fans to imply the ending of the series?
Mine was already said, sora lying motionless with the keyblade broken, and i think someone like mickey or Riku standing over him.

Well you alreayd have the unnamed 3rd game in the series ready to start creation, the filler on the ds/psp, maybe like a short film isnt that far off eithe, like a 20 minute thing or something

either way, it better not be no F*****G 20 minutes, all tha build up for 20 minutes. sry, personal issue, But anyway, I dont know if id rather have a movie or a game. I mean weve seen 3 games already, and squares proven that they can make a movie, so why not try it, and if the time is now, then why not. then again, to make it more fun, and possible make more money, it might be another game. Personally i want it on the PSP, simple yet efficient. I think that on the ds will be too much, and i wont be able to enjoy it.
I was obviously understating it when i said 20 minutes, maybe you knew that or not, either way, im not expecting a huge film like AC, a short film in other word. One up to a full movie, i would love it, but i dont think thats gonna happen

Originally Advent Children started as a 20 minute film in 2003/2004. At the time there was no director and Takeshi Nozue (co-director of KH series cutscenes) signed up to co-direct. Eventually Nomura ended up directing the movie, and they kept making it longer and longer until it hit the 100 mins it is today. And now we have ACC on our hands.
So a similar thing could happen.
This is starting to become a new trend with games of these types. Instead of making a game they make a movie instead.
Yeah, but its tough with square, if they make a movie out of kh, obviously its gonna be a hit or a fall, and when you think about it, it has to be an absolute hit, otherwise the franchise of KH will suffer.
That and you have to take into consideration of their past movies. They only made 2, spirits within and advent children. So then the question arises, which movie was what thet are actually capable of, and which one was the fluke movie?
well, i agree about a hit or a fall. along with it has to be a hit. But i think that if they did the movie at then end would be a good stratagey. I think taht becuase well fans loyal and never dissapointed will go see it, so even if it is a fall thers nothing after it, and they will make money, regardless i think avoid the confusion and stick to games. However i think a movie would be awesome, so go figure,
well, the game to movie franchise has had its falls in the past, and vice verca, so all in all its gonna be trickey to what they can do or will do. Just cause at the lognest its gonna be a 2 hour movie, so the real question would be what part of they story can the tell in only 2 hours?
