Luna here,
Working to provide you with a summary of the important events of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.
358/2 Days takes place both during the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, as well as afterward while Sora is asleep. The events lead up directly to Kingdom Hearts Two where Roxas is placed in the virtual Twilight Town. The game begins before the events of Chain of Memories (COM) but after the events of Kingdom Hearts one, as Roxas is the main protagonist of the game. Roxas, as most will know from Kingdom Hearts two, is Sora’s Nobody, created when Sora became a heartless during the first game. However, because Sora regained his original self, Roxas has no memories of being whole, unlike the other organization members, a fact which is very prevalent throughout the game.
The game begins with Roxas’ induction into Organization XIII. The gameplay details his daily missions as you go throughout the game, moving from day one, to day 358. It should be noted, there are not 358 actual days worth of missions, as days jump forward at times in the game. Roxas’ initial missions on his first few days are training missions. Roxas learns how to fight, because he cannot remember anything from his life as Sora. He uses the Kingdom Key, and Larxene, the organization’s number 12, explains to Roxas that he and his key are very special to Xemnas’ plans, because Roxas has the ability to collect hearts using the keyblade for Kingdom Hearts, so that all 13 nobodies can be restored to normal status.
During these training missions, Roxas is paired up with fellow Org. members so that he may be shown the ropes. These members include: Larxene, Lexaeus, Zexion, Vexen, Marluxia, and at the very end, Axel. You may notice, that these members are the Castle Oblivion team, and this is the only time you are paired with them, save for Axel. You continue to go on missions with Axel, as Saix labels him your “Babysitterâ€. It is at this time that Axel takes Roxas up the clock tower and gives him his first Sea Salt Ice Cream Bar, calling it the icing on the cake after their tough missions. The two agree to meet at the clock tower every day to enjoy their ice cream, and over the course of a few days, they develop a close bond. At the end of your training, The Castle Oblivion team leaves.
It is at this time that you meet Xion, the mysterious 14thorganization member who Xemnas inducts while the others are away at Castle Oblivion. In Axel’s absence you begin going on missions with Xion, to various Disney worlds.
A few days, and a few missions down the road; it is revealed to you by certain Org. members that the entire Castle Oblivion is toast, and has been wiped out. This causes a problem for Roxas, because he knows Axel was there, and before he left, he had come to know Axel as a friend. This provides something very peculiar for a Nobody, because Roxas is able to feel worry for his friend axel, something that a Nobody should not be able to do without a heart. Roxas continues his missions with Xion, and even invites her to join him on the clock tower after their missions, essentially inviting her into he and Axel’s group.
As most should know, Sora completes his mission in Castle Oblivion after wiping the org of almost half its members, and is offered the opportunity to sleep for a year in order to regain his lost memories. As Sora begins his yearlong nap, Roxas falls into a coma, and does not wake for several weeks, during which time, Xion places seashells by his bedside from each mission she goes on alone.
Roxas eventually wakes up, and finds an exciting sight waiting for him, that Axel has returned. He also learns however, that Xion has disappeared.
Roxas continues his missions, going either solo or with various Org members. After missions, he and Axel search for Xion, hoping she hasn’t been injured. They soon find her, and learn that she has lost the ability to wield the keyblade, and that she ran away because she felt Xemnas would be angry and find her useless. Roxas continues his missions, but they convince Saix (who oversees day to day mission operations) to let all three of them team up, so that Axel and Roxas can cover for Xion’s lack of keyblade power. Together, or in certain cases as just the pair of Roxas and Xion, they travel to many different Disney worlds, some familiar, some unfamiliar. Some of these worlds include Wonderland, Beast’s Castle, Twilight Town, Neverland, Agrabah, Halloween Town, and many more. Towards the end of this series of missions, Roxas and Xion are out alone, during which time, Roxas allows Xion to use his keyblade while he fights with a wooden stick. At the end of the mission, Xion regains her abilities, and is forever thankful for her friends’ help.
The missions continue. Roxas partners with the remaining members of the organization, but never gets the chance to partner with either Xemnas or Saix. Roxas travels to each of the worlds in the game more than once, and ends up fighting various bosses as he goes about his mission, all while collecting the hearts needed to make Kingdom Hearts.
Midway through the game, Xemnas and Saix learn of an impersonator running about in an Organization cloak, and wreaking havoc on their plans. Most will know from the end events of COM that this man is Riku. Xion, because of her keyblade power, is sent to remove this impersonator from the world. Riku and Xion fight on the bridge in Beast’s Castle, where he reveals to her that she is not really a Nobody, but is in fact, only a puppet made by Xemnas from Sora’s memories to use in case Roxas and Sora didn’t work out for their plans. Xion however, provides two main problems by being in existence. First off, because both she and Roxas were made from Sora, she and Roxas compete for the same source of power. As the game goes along, Roxas becomes weaker, to the point where during your missions; you are only given half your stats. Xion however, becomes more and more powerful, because she is slowly absorbing Roxas into her, as was Xemnas’ designs. The second problem Xion’s existence provides, is that because she was made from Sora’s memories, Sora cannot fully be completed by Namine’s memory powers, and therefore cannot wake up. During her battle with Riku, Xion is told to abandon the Organization, and to join with Sora so that he may be complete again. Riku calls Xion a fake, and says she doesn’t deserve to be alive, something that affects her deeply, as she begins to wonder about her place in the world, as well as her existence.
Xion again runs away, leaving Axel and Roxas dejected. Saix then gives them the unsettling mission to track her down, and bring her back to the Organization. They eventually find her in Twilight Town, where Axel and Xion do battle, only before Axel allows her to escape. This greatly affects Roxas, because he feels various emotions he should not be able to. To settle his mind, he confronts Xemnas directly, asking him who Xion really is, and what her place is. Xemnas explains how Xion was created, and that she resembles Kairi because she was made from Sora’s memories.
Roxas begins to doubt the Organization’s loyalty and motives, and decides he can no longer be a part of something he doesn’t understand. Roxas decides to run away, leaving Axel by himself. This is when the famous scene from Kingdom Hearts Two takes place, where Roxas is walking away from The Castle That Never Was, and Axel says he would miss him.
The 358thday begins as the game finally rounds to a close. Roxas hunts Xion down in Twilight Town, where she explains to him that Xemnas really created her to absorb Roxas so that the two of them in one body could become the real Sora. During the conversation in Twilight Town, Xion removes her hood, and shows her new face to Roxas, one that looks exactly like Sora because of the absorption process.
The final battle takes place in four phases throughout four worlds, Agrabah, Wonderland, Halloween town, and finally Twilight Town. As the battle ends, Xion is finished, and is beginning to disappear so that her stolen memories can reunite with Sora. She tells Roxas that he needs to stop Xemnas’ plan, and destroy Kingdom Hearts. It was her final request, before her body fully crystalizes and then vanishes, where she rejoins with Sora. Because she is back with Sora, the memories that other people have of her begin to disappear, and eventually, no one can remember her existence. She was never added to the Organization, because she was never really a Nobody, and no one speaks of her in Kingdom Hearts Two, because once she is back with Sora, the memories of her existence go with her.
Roxas returns to do as Xion asked. On his way there, he runs into Riku at the Memory Skyscraper. Riku explains that he needs to take Roxas back to Sora, a feat which only angers Roxas. Roxas finally takes out his dual Keyblades Oathkeeper and Oblivion, and he and Riku engage in the battle shown in “Deep Dive: Another Side, Another Storyâ€. Roxas defeats Riku with relative ease at this point in the game, but Riku will not give up on Sora. Riku taps into the power of Darkness, and transforms into his Ansem mode, in order to capture Roxas at any cost. This however, leaves him looking like the villain, and he decides to hide his face, and only watch Sora from a distance. Riku takes Roxas back to DiZ, and DiZ proceeds to wipe all of Roxas’ memories, and implant him with new ones. To complete Sora’s restoration process, DiZ then places Roxas in the virtual Twilight town, where he can guide Roxas to Sora, and finally complete the process they have been working for.
The game ends on the 359thday, titled, “The First Dayâ€, because Roxas can remember none of his memories from his 358 days of life. Therefore, things restart for Roxas, giving us the explanation for the “Over Two†of the title. Roxas remembers nothing but the false memories of Hayner, Pence and Olette, and he beings his summer vacation under Riku and DiZ’s watchful eyes.
The story then continues, in Kingdom Hearts Two.

First post, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!. :D
Hey Sammie did you play kh 358/2 days???
wow i loved this game!
but it was pretty hard
it took me two weeks to finish!
so when is the next one comeing out
or did it already out and i haven’t been imformed about it. and no i can’t speak japenese.
P.S. imma girl so NO ONE CALL ME DUDE
it makes me go crazy XD
Dont worry Madison. Your gender isnt really important here.
Anyway, there isnt going to be another 358 if thats what you were reffering to, becuase well, there cant be. If you meant in the series, BBS comes out in NA on september 7th, and in EU on September 10th.
I do like the outlook of the whole outline, I didnt catch any key points missed, then again i did read it really quickly. The only piece of advice that I can give before reading COded is that perhaps if you do the platform games of KH1 and 2, is to have some of the key conversations. Even though they did have voice acting in 358/2 days, there really wasnt any conversations that you could have put in to make this recap any better than it is now.
that would be a good idea. Theres so many though, that choosing a few of them would be hard to do. i suppose i could include conversations from the org members in certain worlds, like Xaldin’s “Truly and Completely Exist” line from Beast’s castle. But i dont want them to become too long to where it scares readers off before they even begin reading it. so that would be a battle with Kh2, seing as how so much happens. 1 wouldnt be so bad, because there arent that many major events in the worlds outside of Traverse Town, Hollow Bastion, Destiny islands, etc. and COM, i would only have to describe the scenes inbetween each world, since each floor is just a rehash of KH1, so COM would probably be the easiest. But two would be a problem length wise.
Agreed, im not sure how much advice i can give, its been a while since i played the first one especially. Hell im not even sure if i still have Re:CoM or kh2, but heres what im gonna do. Im on work vacation before school starts back in my hometown, so when i get back to pittsburgh early next week i will choose a random one of those games and type up a small summary with some quotes or what not and i can send it to you and you can tell me what you think. If all goes well ill try to bang out a good summary for one of the games before school started for you guys and the site
Ok. that would be fantastic, but i think i have something that would work better for me if youd rather.
i just played KH1 and Re:Com, so those are both fresh in my mind, but i havent played 2 yet. i plan to do that in about two weeks, right before BBS. So since 1 and Com are fresh, i dont think ill have any problem working on those, especially COM. what you could help me with is 2. 2 is the longest, with the most information that would have to be typed up, so if your willing, you can do a condensed version of 2 and find some quotes, and then i can go through and type what remains and or make it more complex. Sort of a collaboration between the two of us on KH2, would make that long game so much easier.
Sounds good to me, im pretty sure I can get a decent one going with what i have from memory and what i can find around the net, although im pretty sure i still have the game lying around. So if all goes well i should get a decent version out most likely by the end of next week if not sooner
sounds good. take your time though, im going to be out of town a week from today, so i dont plan on getting a whole lot done before i get back on the 25th. So if you want to get started thats great, but im not planning on working on any new ones until i get back.
thats cool, im going to need that extra time do get a decent summary anyways
OK. sounds good.
i wanted to ask, just out of curriosity to anyone who may come here besides the two of us. Which organization members are people fond of?
Having just completed 358, and having this be a 358 summary, the Organization and all its members are “in play” right now, so i was just wondering who people like in the organization.
Play style wise in the game i didnt really take a shine to anyone in particular. Laxeus was cool because of the sheer power and Marluxia was alright with the quickness. Now other than that there wasnt anyone thatshined through in that game. In general though, its tough to say, hate to say Xemnas jsut cause he is numbr one, but the ligtsaber type things is hard to ignore
i think i could ignore the fact that they look like lightsabers. i could even ignore the fact that theyre red, like a sith lightsaber would be, but i cant ignore the fact that they even make the same buzzing sound when he attacks with them. that’s a little to like star wars.
I actually like Xaldin play wise. he hits hard, he hits fairly quickly, and he can take a punch. but i also like Saix (of course) or his critical hits, and like you said Lexaeus for his brute strenth.
Who do you like personality wise?
I like 2 when it comes to personality..Xaldin is pretty laid back and even when he is fighting he seems calm cool and collected. The other would be Xigbar, he seems he would be the, dare i say stoner of the group. Cant say that I relate to that, but his outlook of, dont want to fight unless i really have to lazy style is kinda humerous
haha, as if. No but i really agree with you, xigbar is pretty cool. i also like how he gives people nicknames.
Overall I like two as well.
The first would be Saix, i just love the berserker mode, and how hes cold and practically mean to everyone but xemnas.
but i also like Luxord. I like his outlook on things and how he relates everything to a game. but i also think that alot of what he says is prophetic and wise, plus his deck of cards weapon is unique and interesting.
Well let me cut in hahaha
I didn’t like any in particullar but Xigbar is impressive with hes shooting speed and what Reza said is very true, the lazy stile looks crazy
and i don’t know maybe Marluxia sword forgot the name of it
gream reaper stile looks crazy but i didnt like the flower stuff made him more um gay?
it’s not gay but I can get the word right now but its something that I actually didnt see the point of it, and in BBS I didn’t see any sings of Marluxia in it thats another good point
marluxia was inteded to be a girl, thats why hes so feminine.
oooooh now I see no wonder Larxene was left alone, she wasn’t going to be alone but a change of plan made that happen haha ok :P
i read it was because nomura didnt want to make the majority of the rebels girls. a negative stereotype and all
oh ok now I get it haha
well i love Roxas 1st off and this is my fav. game out of the KH series!!
im wokeing on it with my friend so we can see it at the same time. BUT she deleted her account when we where both on 246 days!
so i need 2 wait till shes back on that. :(
anyways!!! so then Xion is Like a BOY then cuz she was sora……i have to say….when u think it…its kinda wrong that they make Xion and Roxas a couple. just saying its kinda off topic tho.
